Anne is in Jacksonville, about 35 miles north of St. Aug. Now, HAWKE is in Elkton, near St. Aug, but they rescue a lot of raptors (hawks, eagles, etc?) and I've heard people voice concern about bringing rodents to a place that cares for birds of prey. There are 2 ladies who work at Crill and Palm Vet in Palatka (30miles West-ish from St. Aug) who care for squirrels at home, *but* if serious injuries are present, I think they're a little quick to just let the vet put the critter down. This is just based on my taking them a squirrel who seemed paralyzed in her back limbs, but had some very awake/aware moments before I got her to the vet, who I later found out they put down because of the paralysis.
