You can try 1/2FV and 1/2GM for a couple of days, then go to 3/4 FV 1/4 goats milk, for another couple. Then full strength Fox Valley
You may see some sort of change first couple of days in their stools, that's typical. We don't want very loose stools or bloating.:)

mustard color is fine. Quite normal:D. Anything from brown to tan, gold, and mustard is good. Light beige and white poop means you're overfeeding.

Mix a container of FV at 3 parts water 1 part powder, and another container of the current goats milk recipe. If everyone has been doing well on the goats milk you can do 3/4 GM and 1/3 FV, then 1/2 and 1/2, and then 1/4 GM and 3/4 FV and then straight FV. If that goes well, start the full strength straight FV.
But work with two containers of mixed formula, don't try adding FV powder to the goats milk.

I just read in the "common mistakes and fixes" that you are NOT supposed to heat up formula in the micro ! have I been hurting my babies? THe proper way would be to put the cup of made formula and sit it in a bowl of very hot hot water till its nce and warm?
I am glad that thread was created.

I doubt you would've been hurting your babies. It's just that heating it in the microwave can take away/kill some of the vitamins. If you have not overheated it I would seriously doubt you have taken away all of the good stuff :) BTW while you heat it in the hot water cup do stir it every now and then, you don't want it to form a skin on top.

That sounds like great news. From this feeding on I will be heating it the "right" way.
p.s What can I do for what looks like dry skin?

Unfortunately I have never dealt with one with dry skin, so I can't really advise you on that particular issue. However, I do know that some other people here have and maybe you could create a thread that could address that specific problem in order to get a quicker response.
I'm sure it is something that many of us could learn about, myself included.

Try getting your hands on some coconut oil. Rub a bit on your hands and give him a rub down. I used this with all of mine and one is still getting it. Great stuff. ( I even use it on myself).

Wondering....... Since Coco Butter (the real stuff - not lotion) is good for human skin and hair..... Could we rub a little on the smaller squirrels that do not yet have their fur in and have dry skin issues?

Not sure. I use extra organic virgin coconut oil. Looks like crisco. It helped with ringworm and dry skin.

Too much perfume and dyes. Squirrels sense of smell is extreme....the perfume would irritate him.
I would have to say no to the baby lotion.

I live in the middle of nowhere and I found it in a larger towns grocery store. It was in the organic section. It was about 7 bucks a jar and the jar has lasted a year. Thats with me using it on my skin as well and cooking with it.
If you have a whole foods near....or even a health food store....they should have it.
