How often does a mama squirrel move her babies? I'm talking pinkies. Saw the mom move them three or four times today, like she can't make up her mind where to put them. And now it looks like she's looking for them. Seems to have forgotten she went UP with them an hour ago.:sanp3

there is a problem if she is moving them as pinkies...
it maybe ants, cats, coones, hawk, noise...something is unfavorable...
If it were happening here...I would immediately hang a wooden nest box near where she is as high as you can in a large tree.
normally they have two nests and do not move the babies til they are almost 3 months old...as best as I know...:peace
sad because the more she moves them, the more she will be stressed...
I have seen battered bruised babies left behind all because of a cat...:shakehead
good luck, let us know what happens.:grouphug

Yes Jackie I agree for sure.
I have observed many of my girls on property move there young but only once. The last two moved their babies in to a nicer larger nest/drey that was completely enclosed and the others did decide to take over a nest box that was hung in place and as far as I could tell abandoned.
My hubby and I say. One moves out and opens up a vacancy for another.
Last one we watched we said Momma was saying "come on kids we have a nicer home now we are moving up in the world".:D
Nest boxes are wonderful and can even be hand made and hung very quickly.
I hope she finds a good home and stays there:wave123

Yes, normally she moves them once, when they're around 10-12 weeks old. She might be a first-time mom; maybe there's some problem at the old nest; maybe the nest fell apart. Not good. Squirrels can't count, and mom can easily get confused and forget one, or drop one.
I'd keep a close eye on the process and be prepared to rescue if necessary.:grouphug

She had them right outside my bedroom window! No predators. I think maybe combination of radio/TV/lights and me gawking contributed to her moving them. Hard to say if she's a first time mom. Nobody was dropped anyway- I checked.
