This is Pippa, about 6 weeks old. Her eyes and head look odd to me. She's very hard to feed and doesn't want to eat. She doesn't want to be put in her cage ever, and grumbles / talks a lot. She's very sweet and loves to snuggle but then she is very young yet. She's gaining weight fine as I am very patient and will take all the time needed with her. Here are some pictures...

Ohhhhh shes a cutie!!!! From the pics I have seen she does somewhat resemble a Downs baby but not as obvious as some I have seen. I am NO expert in this department so I am giving this a :bump

Unless she is showing signs of odd behavior and slow development at this point of her life I would give her some time to grow and I bet in another month or two you will see a normal baby squirrel that is growing into a REG SQUIRREL!! -- as too I thought I had a few squirrels that were going to have downs and they developed just fine (just at a diff rate than I planned, but right on que with dear ole Mother Nature) :Love_Icon

P.S.
Are you feeding her FOX VALLEY? --if not, please look into getting her some for proper development of a growing baby squirrel @ http://www.henryspets.com/

She looks healthy to me, has she shown any signs of being a downs baby?

I don't know if she's showing signs of being a down's baby because I don't really have any experience with Down's except I used to baby-sit a child that had it years and years ago.
She is sweet, but all babies are. She does have a hard time eating and will constantly try to flip onto her side while eating when I can get her to find the nipple. But all babies sometimes have trouble finding the nipple.
Of course she's on Fox Valley, yummy stuff. Although for 2 days after getting my FV supply I couldn't get her to eat much of it. Her cage mate ate it just fine and looks nothing like her in the face.
Her right eye seems cloudier than it should but I will give that time and then take her to a vet if I don't see improvement.
She LOVES to be held and HATES to be put in her cage. She "screams" when I put her down in her cage with her cage mate. The other baby that is the same age doesn't make any noise at all.
She does grunt and talk to herself when she is in my shirt, almost like she is fighting with herself.
She's pooping and peeing fine, growing fine and not skinny or dehydrated.
Whatever she turns out to be, healthy or down's syndrome I will care for her and love her I have a ton of patience when it comes to squirrels. Humans not so much lol.
I was / am worried that maybe there is special treatment I would have to give her and I'm fine with giving her special treatment but I didn't / don't know what that would be. She's a winner in my book and perfect!
Thanks,
Joanne:thankyou

Down's babies are smaller with shorter limbs and nose. They are kinda short and stubby. At full grown size, they still can be held with one hand! They have issues thermoregulating. They also sleep a lot and don't nurse well because they tend to fall asleep while eating.
I think your guy is just fussy.

Fussy is good because she can lead a normal life if she's not down's syndrome. I will hope for the best and love her while she's here :-) Thank you!

She's got a stubbier nose and her front legs seem shorter / stubbier than most. Her eyes are what really make me look twice. But she's a real sweetie so no matter what she's going to get the best of everything hehe!
