PT, take four deeeeeep breaths. :)
Cover the trap. If he's the little guy you want to relocate, take him at least FIVE miles away to an area with food & water. Good luck!

OK, I actually was putting a towel over but had to cut hole for handle. He was crying (I guess), lots of noises. I feel terrible.
I'm Breathing now, so is he, he's just scared. normal.
You all have hard jobs. ican't do what you do.
Little one will be relocated near a small like pond.
So glad we caught, as they can’t stay here for obvious reason, but it was completely unexpected and the trap closed when walking out the door.
Thank you. Poor guy is scared.
Will put closed trap into a cardboard box during transport
thank you
yes, he is who i wanted to trap, just happened all so fast in front of me, didn't realize it happened until... well it happened.

PT, you do as much as anyone else on here with your kind and gentle soul. Thanks for being such a great friend to us and wildlife.

ir —thank you, breathing is actually a good reminder.
longshotgamble —hi! Thanks so much, you’re very kind.
Momma2boo & stepnstone — I’m sorry, didn’t really think to get another picture, s/he was scared and I’ve never live caught in a metal trap and I did the best I could, not being funny or anything but why the picture of the face?
Kelly Brady— I don't know what it is, I thought a mouse.
What had happened was, last night we saw “someone” go under the patio, setup traps, but didn’t catch anything. So last night we just put it on the table, and didn’t think anything of it.
Right before I posted, I opened the door to go out and the trap closed shut & I realized someone was inside. Posted on TSB what do I do, lol, called hubby, checked on the mouse :), it was definitely scared and was like crying or screeching, took it’s picture, got a towel, then realized I needed to cut a hole for handle, by this time IR already told me to breath and cover him and release 5 miles away making sure food & water, hubby came & put a second towel on him cause he wasn’t completely covered, crying again (I always thought they were quiet).
Hubby took him for a ride, put the trap on the ground, opened the door, s/he scooted down the hill. He’s out and alive and well., hubby says it’s a very nice home for him, put some peanuts out and the little guy/gal has a stream, soft soil, and garbage dumpster wasn’t traumatic at all (yeah right).
I’m still confused how s/he got onto the table!!!
Here are some pictures.
BTW, I really did the best I could, I’m sorry if it wasn’t perfect or right, it just all happened so fast, but s/he is alive and I feel bad about relocating, but they couldn’t stay it isn't safe for them here.

I got a good laugh over this and I think you did a wonderful job. I would flip if I actually trapped something too. But sometimes relocating is a must:wave123
I think by the picture it just looks so large that it throws the brain off.
Looks like a great place for release:thumbsup

You would be surprised at what could have got up on that table. I have watched skunks climb up and steal glass salt shakers off a picnic table thinking they were eggs. :rotfl
From the back and looking at the fur on your critter it looks like it could have been a young Nutria. If it was a Nutria, releasing around a stream was a perfectly ideal place!

Kelly Brady — hehe, yeah, it is pretty funny now, but I was nervous and my heart finally stopped racing 20 minutes ago, lol. Yeah, I’m Not the best picture taker on a normal day and I think I was almost as scared as this little one.
stepnstone—oh snap, a skunk on the table, I think I need two gallons of bleach now (just kidding, well sort of kidding), :). Just think about all the barbecue’s you’ve been at where the hostess had too much to do and didn’t clean off the table before your meal.
Oh that Nutria is cute and BIG!!
Thanks!
um what was that???
mice don't shreek....
omg....
um... i caught 4 mice this morning and have them to be released tomorrow and they're as quiet as ...well... mice.... except for their jumping:thinking
