The wrapper says"
"Heats up when exposed to oxygen.."I assume when you open the package it AUTOMATICALLY begins too heat up--how hot it gets --I DON'T KNOW
Check it every 5-10 minutes for the first hour--to confirm temperature is OK

Take it out from the package and shake it up. It will begin to heat. Be VERY careful they get VERY hot. Put it inside a baby sock or two. Do not put directly near critter.

OK - Are we sure this THING (Grrrrrr - :soapbox) doesnt need to be heated in the microwave as I have shaken it until its about to come apart at the seams and its still NOT HOT!!
When I opened the plain silver bag it came in there is another thin white perforated paper like baggie that holds the coal rock like things..... Now What?
or........ Did I just get a BAG of DUDS? - dead heads / non working heaters :(

Dang it. Sorry about that. They can take a long time to heat up though. The crushed charcoal filled thing is the heating device and is supposed to work once oxygen mixes with it (thus the shaking).
I use stuff called Hot Hands. Every once in a great while I get a dud too.

:soapbox GRRRRRRRRRRR :soapbox
All three packs were duds..... so I just threw them a way and I ordered a heating pad in with my fv order from HHB Website.
I will use hot water bottles until it arrives - I am up every 3 to 4 hrs with the pinkie any ways. :D
