You have a squirrel and a vet in Illinois? You are very fortunate; they are illegal to keep as pets in Illinois.

they're illegal to keep in illinois... are you sure your vet will not take him from you?

what is his diet like?

the most common illness we have in pet squirrels is metabolic bone disease...it comes from calcium being leached from bones because of an imbalance in the diet.... if nothing else tums might help short term... just hand him one... or make a liquid and syringe into his mouth ... we have instructions in case it's mbd....
