View Full Version : Revolution... more required...
So back on July 21st I gave my 14ish week old black squirrel 3 drops of Revolution. It almost immediately cleared up his ears, however at the time he had a small spot above his tail beginning to show hair loss, whilst at the vet yesterday he, though I already knew, reconfirmed it to be mange. How long until I can give him another dose? As the spot is gradually getting larger.
There might be a slight case of on the underside of the tail also. The July 21st dose was right between his shoulder blades, and seemingly worked great for his ears, but not all for his tail, so beside WHEN can I give him more, my other question is WHERE to apply the second dosage?
Thanks... man o man, this squirrel is soooooo awesome. Is it bad if I say I like him more than the others I have had? I am awful I know... hahaha

You need to do a 3 to 6 month treatment. :thumbsup I have used half a tub of Revolution be for on 1 Squirrel. One thing to remember is when you open the Revolution. IT MUST BE USED!!! It will not keep for days!!!:nono When the air hits it, it starts loosing its potencies. For Mange mites it can take up to 1 year to get under control. (Depending which mite you are dealing with.):dono Don't ba afraid to use The Revolution on your Squirrel.
You can use Revolution every month for years if needed. It is a alcohol base. In the summer I always put a whole tub of Revolution on Rocki every month for fleas and mite control.
Hope this helps.:thumbsup3
Good luck
PS
In between the shoulder blades. That is where it is suppose to be put. It will enter the blood stream and go through the body. You need to use more then 3 drops. I would half of a tub. The one that is for dogs up to 20 LB. If using one for Puppies or Kittens use the whole thing every 30 for at least 3 months. Eggs will hatch out some times up to 6 months. Keep a close eye on anything new showing up.
the 3 drops itself burned the hair off between his shoulder blades, i couldn't imagine using a tube of it...

Hi Rele:wave123
I posted in Joe thread about the sever case of mange with her little one. To kill the Mange Mite and the New Eggs that hatch out.
You need to do this every 2 weeks for 3 months. Then once a month, for 3 months. " Up to 6 months." That gives the one in the house and
carpet time to find there way back to the animals. :D We can never get them all with the vacuum cleaner, and Disinfectant cleaning. :D
Good Luck! Christal.
PS
I am sending you a PM with a explanation and my Phone number.
Call me if you would like.:thumbsup3

in the original thread I had on the Revolution... I stated the hair-loss due to the revolution and a member stated it was a side effect, listed on the Revolution's website.

I will go empty it. :D
There is no side effect that I know of. I will go read the box and check with several Vets I use. I will ask what they think, and get back to you. I have never had this happen to anything I put the Revolution on. I have used a lot of Revolution. :D
Now Baytril Shots!! :nono :shakehead That is another story. That causes Ulceration and Hair Loss and Bad Scaring. That is why the Vets don't like people to give it as a shot. If they hit bone it can rot and start infection. I will Let you know what I find out tomorrow. Good luck with your little one. :thumbsup3

If you go to the official Revolution website you will see reference to hair loss at the application site being a possible (but not dangerous) side effect.

:peace I am just saying this from my experiences...
{not saying Mrs.Skul is wrong}
I have never never had to treat any sq more than twice for mange mites and I always treat twice with Revolution per my vets.
Unless you have a house full of critters and they all get mites....in that case, it would be an epidemic out of control. You will need to do major overhaul if that's the situation.
PS, I do have a house full...I have never had mites spread so far,
{9 years)...

I have had to give my Koi fish Baytril shots. On the advice of my fish vet-Dr. Eric Johnson in Atlanta, GA: Always dilute the Baytril with a small amount of Saline and inject sub q-this will keep the Baytril from killing the tissues and causing scars. I do this with a friends thousand dollars plus show fish and have never had a problem! I always mix the Baytril! I hadn't thought to share this trick on here before---me bad.tinfoil tinfoil
the part that concerns me the most is my guy DID lose hair, so that side-effect is going to be of big concern of mine, dangerous or not. Having to wait 30 days between the Revolution application means it will be another 10 days, the spot above his tail is getting bigger and bigger and bigger... almost by the minute, (not really) but you know....
Suppose I will try another dose of Revolution in 10 days if that doesn't work I will be looking into a different option to clear him up of his troubles.
