Ok, I was just handed 4 pinkies. I have never raised a pinkie. I have them in fleece and a heating pad on low. I have FV day one. I have raised plenty of 5weekers and up but I am not prepared for this. I have a small 1 cc syringe but no nipple. I have a full time job and I will not be able to care for these kids durring the day when they need to be fed. I am in Hudson Florida. I PMed Jackie. I do not know how to mix the day one fv for these guys. I need feed back..Please.

I have a full time job and I will not be able to care for these kids durring the day when they need to be fed. I am in Hudson Florida. I PMed Jackie. I do not know how to mix the day one fv for these guys. I need feed back..Please.

Start off by just slowly hydrating them first. Pedialyte or homemade pedialyte which is:

1 tsp salt (teaspoon)
3 Tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
1 quart warm water

Keep refrigerated.

Go slowly especially with no nipple. Do you know the history of these little ones? Do you see any signs of bites or anything on them?
If you have a grams scale, weigh them and then after one or two feedings of pedialyte, you can start them on the formula. Do they look dehydrated? It's hard to tell on the pinkies. Feed them in an upright position.
I would mix 1 part formula to 2 1/2 parts hot water, stir really well, or shake. You would feed them 5-7 % of their body weight. Do this approximately every 2 1/2 hours, even through the night...:thumbsup

They are fine. Not dropped. My brother is a telephone man and the squirrels were in the box when he went to work on the lines. He took them instead of leaving for mommy to come back. No injuries.

How long ago were they found? The mom probably has a backup nest to take them to if they were found recently she might take them back still! Do not leave them out for more than 2 hours though.

As for being gone during the day, I have managed dozens of pinkies and I work full time plus take in a bunch of other creatures. It requires dedication, but it's doable. You will have to feed every 3 hours when you are home, even through the night, but then they can go for 8 hours while you are at work. If they are scrawny (sounds like these guys are healthy) then they'd need a feeding mid day at work too, but these guys should do well on 5-6 feedings a day.

Sorry guys thats what I said. They were fond yesterday on one of my brother's job sites in Tallahassee he took them away. I now have them so there will be no reunite. I am very upset at that! They are very new still have black stub. I really need somone who has done this before to take them. I did feed them each about.30 of a cc. one really doesn't want to eat so I am trying. I did rub thier pee pees and bottoms but nothing happened. I will feed again at 8pm. Should I rub the genitles with a damp cloth??Please someone get Jackie in Tampa for me. I can meet her with these kids!

I use a soft facecloth (to imitate the texture of the mom's tongue, and I find that the warmer the cloth, the better it works to stimulate them ;)

Well, They and I made it through the night. They all look good, active and they ate fine. I made the hand off to Rhapsody at 11am and she said they looked good. I am very thankful to her:thankyou. I now know how to feed a pinkie but I really don't want to do that again. They are so small and fragile. I know they are more hardy than I think but OMG sooo tiny. I will stick to 5 weeks and up. Bless you Rhapsody and please keep us up on thier progress:D :thankyou

All is well --every one ate a good 0.5 and all are resting well on heat and snuggled up together....
I did not hear any clicking in the one male that was of concern so atm I am giving all 4 pinkies a clean bill of health.... :thumbsup

3 out of 4 Names have been picked out so far.... 2 girls / 2 boys
Nina, Kipper, Elvira (wicked black nails) still working on #4

Can I please name #4 Boy? Alex (Alexander Bell) since they were in a telehone box.
I didn't hear any clicks this morning when I fed them so I'm glad you don't hear anything either:crazy . I love the one little girl, when you feed her she gets into the sucking trance and just will suck the air. They are too precious! I am soo glad you could take my little 4 some. I just do not feel comfortable at all with something so tiny. I was soo afraid I would do something wrong. I kept them on heat all night and as I was told I fed them every 2 1/2 hours. Kiss them for me and thank you again!!!!!!:D

All still doing well...... #4 was named Gilbert by my granddaughter, but we can refer to him by Alex for short (shhhh I wont tell Kyire)..... :)
Little Gilbert seems to be dehydrated, but other than that is doing well and eating 0.5 every feeding (i feed him last since he is the runt and harder to feed)
---I am going to alternate his feeding with pedialyte and fv for 24 hrs to see if that helps with the dehydration.

That's what I love about Nick and Fox Valley. When you talk to him and tell him about the problems you have had and what worked for you, he actually listens! He doesn't just act like his stuff is the best and the only thing that could possibly save your babies and there couldn't be anything wrong with the formula. He is awesome!

Nick is a Good Man...... I ordered some FV from him recently and my card on file had expired and he still went a head and sent the formula out to me (and three weeks after I received the formula) I receive a letter from Nick stating that he could not process my card --HE IS AWESOME!!

Nick ROCKS!! -the animals welfare came first over the $$$$$ and I have ordered from his company several times before so he knew I was good for it.
_______

BTW - the PINKIES now have their own thread in the Nursery so you can view & check up on them in there. :Love_Icon

Similar thing happened to me. He called the day after he mailed it to let me know that the card had expired and get my payment info. He left a message for me since I wasn't home and said to call at my convenience and there was no rush because he had already mailed the formula. He definitely cares about the little tykes!

I did the editing for you :thumbsup.
I think it's important that folks understand that Nick does not recommend anything be added to his formula except Ultra Boost, made by FV. Of course, we've all gotta do what works best for us AND our babies. For what it's worth I add nothing to FV except -- very rarely, with a scrawny kid -- Ultra Boost.

Thank you. I did misunderstand and I certainly did not mean to offend anyone. It is thanks to FV that we:flash3 all have healthy babies.
