What are the cans and can nots of feeding rescued ground squirrels?

we don't know a lot about ground squirrel nutrition ... i think they might be more herbivore/insects than tree squirrels....

we've two members with ground squirrel experience that i can remember...

the first is pappy ... she's got a pet ground squirrel....

the second one is fireweed ... she's rescued baby neurological ground squirrels that unfortunately don't survive because of their weakness and the hibernation period....
