Okay Fez is my little fellow that I rescued from a busy highway back around the last week of April. I thought then that he was 4-5 weeks old. He is doing well and getting big.
I made the mistake last summer with Ziggy of not releasing him soon enough before winter to get prepared for the 6 cold and snowy months. SO on advice from these wonderful boards, I over-wintered him. Now I want to learn from this mistake and let Fezzy go in time to store food and learn to be a squirrel. I am estimating him to be about 15-16 weeks old. Is t hat old enough? Or what signs do I look for to see if he is ready? He can crack nuts by himself now and he tries to hide things in his cage. Please any advice is welcome. Just want to do the right thing for him. Thanks you:thankyou

He is old enough but one can not just let them go, you will need to start the process of a soft release. There is another in this very forum asking about this getting pointers and good advice. See: Help! Beginning the release process. by jenforeman7
