I've gone to my daughter's friends and I'm thinking her Grey Squirrels teeth are too long again.. Her vet retired and she's looking for another one.. She is mainly in West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina (travels with work). Can someone please post a picture how close to the roof of the mouth they should be? Also length of upper and lower by each other? I'm leaving in about an hour but wanted to cut them for her before we leave. thanks :-)

Mine are almost meeting with the top front teeth just overlapping the bottom ones. They can grind them down by bruxing and do it several times a day. I think that if you have a squirrel with malocclusion it is going to become obvious within a short time - a few weeks or less. They start to refuse solids when they get the long snaggle teeth that they cannot grind down. Other than that, they have pretty long teeth, normally, so be sure you have a reason to do so before clipping, is my personal opinion.

Here is a web page about Squirrels with Malocclusion - it has some before and after PICS of SQUIRRELS TEETH that
should be able to help you and give you a good ideal to what a healthy squirrels mouth/teeth should look like.
