With all the constant RAIN we have had here in Central Florida I now find that two of My OUTside Caged Squirrels seem to be coming down with some form of Respiratory illness and I am wondering what I can GIVE THEM?
Edward one of My New Releases (about 2 weeks into Freedom) has the sniffles with snot like material in his nose..... He roams the wild during the day, but comes home every night to his nest box - but the last two days he has been staying in his nest box 24/7 refusing food & nuts / only taking in fresh water. ---I did notice HE slept on the ground under his release cage one night.... :dono :dono
Benny one of my caged outside Squirrels that was due to be released today with his brother Cecil has a constant couch that I notice yesterday.
He is eating and drinking as normal... No change in his behavior, as mean as ever - :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl
WHAT CAN I DO FOR THEM? - Any SUGGESTIONS ON MEDS? - Thx.

If you are sure that it would not be a mold issue, I would use SMZ-TMP or baytril...
did I share either with you?
If so call me and we can dose them.
If not I have some to share if needed.
rain and wood make mold...mold causes alot of respitory issues...
be very careful with Mold...I fought a really long hard battle getting sammy well...and his issues were MOLD for sure...
however...a 10% bleach wash will do wonders on mold...
bigger roofs also will keep the rain out, large overhangs on all sides...:thumbsup
Hope it's just a wee cold.

______
RESPIRATORY ISSUES...... HMMMMMM - MOLD? ? ? ?
Mold is a possibility for Edward as his Nest Box does look like it needs a good cleaning and
there were two squirrels in there, prior to him and Bella - but
Benny & Cecil's Cage looks generally clean over all from the inside outside...
so I would be a little confused IF both came down with Mold Issues. :dono
I only have a little SMZ left over, but I do have some Septra -
I would say both Squirrels are at least two of Maven and Marven weighs
---around 350 to 400 grams
I have a few calls in to My Human Friends for Some Cipro (fingers Crossed) XxXxX

can you get a weight?
I need nuts and want to go before it rains, will be home in a couple hours.
call me, I can help with the meds.
I did have three wee sqs come in from a trimmer with sniffles...he had them for three days without heat. One passed, the other two responded well to meds. They were the first sqs that I have had that I thought had a head and chest cold. The ABs were quick to fix.:thumbsup

score and break tablet in half...using ONLY half.
I crush in a tablespoon with a teaspoon...ONLY HALF.(250mg)
really crush as fine as you can.
add ten ccs of water....
shake well...and draw with syringe soon after shaking so it does not settle and seperate.
After it has been mixed for awile it will dissolve better...and stay suspended a wee bit longer, you'll see what I mean.
.2cc is dose {about 1/2 inch on 1 cc syringe}
twice a day...7 days
please give proboyics...yogurt will work, daily.
keep in fridge...throw away after 14 days.
This is for 525 gram sq...not Tony @ 375 (Tony@375) grms
I am not a licensed rehabber:peace or anything else...just JIT.
Hope he feels better soon.

c, start with a loading dose of .4cc if he will take that much...just the FIRST DOSE>
do not lick the syringe...you'll turn green. Baytril/cipro is the yuckiest strong gross taste ever...
do not bother adding anything to it, it does not help...
make sure he gets every drop.
Go in thru the side of the mouth with the syringe, behind the front teeth...in the corner of his mouth...it makes it harder for him to allow it to dribble out OR not swallow...:wave123
