View Full Version : Two questions for my nuro baby

My nuro baby Crash is 11 wks old now and still showing no interest in eating food on his own. I've tried a variety of foods cut in small chunks so he could try to hold and eat them on his own. He showed a little interest in the apple and would chew the shells from the peanuts but not eat the peanut. For the last week he wont touch any of this or anything else I try to give him. At this point I have started making him "smoothies" with apple, carrots, organic spring mix greens, pine nuts, and rodent block ground up and blended with distilled water to feed through his "bottle" syringe. I'm becoming concerned that he wont eat anything unless its from the syringe. I'm wondering if there are any suggestions or tricks.
Also someone had mentioned a few weeks ago that using Arnica could help his nerological condition but I'm finding very few instructions on the amount, type, and schedule this should be administered.
Thanks for your time and help. Crash is a darling cuddly love with funny head but I love him!

Knothead only took formula and apples the first 3-4 months of his life....He refused everything else....The smoothies are a good idea but take out the pine nuts...And I would not give him peanuts at all right now...Give him the formula as long as you can....Knotty is almost 2 and we still hand feed him

Should I continue the formula along with the smoothies or just use the smoothies with the rodent block. Why no pine nuts or peanuts? The pine nuts are ground up and put into the smoothie and I was giving him the peanuts hoping he could grind down his teeth which is something I know they need to do.

You need to read some of the stickies in our nutrition forum - good info there.

To prevent metabolic bone disease, we try, through a combination of rodent block and healthy fruits and veggies, to keep the squirrels with a ratio of 2:1 of calcium to phosphorus - twice as much calcium as phosphorus. If you stray generally by allowing the phosphorus levels to be higher than that, you will run into MBD issues. Phosphorus is VERY common in most foods, so it is easy to get out of whack.

Pine nuts have a 1:36 calcium to phosphorus level. Peanuts are not quite as bad at 1:6. But you can see where they are WAY off from what you are trying to feed.

If you want to include nuts for flavor, try almonds and hazelnuts (1:1.6 and 1:1.7 respectively) or a small amount of pecans at 1:4.

I hope that makes sense.

the formula is the most important thing he should have right now...Offer the formula until he refuses it...he is still a baby but he will let you know when he is finished... the pine nuts are like cocaine they use to make Knothead CRAZY plus they have no nutritional value....if you give him peanuts he will refuse his "healthy" foods...trust me I made the same mistake with Knothead and once they start on the nuts it's hard to get them off...Knotty would only eat apples I guess because they were soft and he has a jaw injury. What formula do you give him? The Fox Valley is the best for him.

How do you know he is a Neuro baby? What symptons does he show? And we NEED pictures because we know he is just adorable especially if he is a special squirrel...

OK pine nuts out!! I'll check out the nutrition page. I do give him the FV. Thanks for the support here I was starting to worry about his inability/refusal to eat on his own. I guess he will get there when he is ready.
Have any of you tried or heard of Arnica.
I will post pictures soon! He is my most adorable baby EVER!!

Do you have private message option activated yet?...
if you do, send a pm to a member by the name BHO. You can find her in the Members List (top menu bar), click on her name and choose send a private message.
She's had some extensive experience with homeo remedies, especially, for various neuro problems. I am sure, she will be happy to share her experience and knowledge with you.

just heard from BHO, she cleaned out her Inbox, so she should be able to receive private messages. Also, she said she had e-mailed you, so check your e-mails. If you didn't get her e-mail, try a pm again - she should be able to receive it now.
