Hammy needs prayers!

Just got this from Digiandchipper:

"He is in the hospital and we don't know what is wrong. I came home today and he was just sitting on the floor of his room, waiting for me. I picked him up and he just sat in my hand. The dr. can find nothing wrong at first look - his eyes look like no head trauma, he is moving in a normal fashion when he has to ( we put him on the floor at the vet and he finally jumped onto my arm but then just sat there).While she talked to me, he just laid his head in my hand :****(
He has to stay for xrays and blood work and I am worried sick. I am so afraid Zack might have dropped an aspirin or something like that and it bounced into Hammy's room??? I can find no place he chewed or anything unsafe in his room, nothing hard for him to fall onto, nothing, nothing, nothing... Please pray for our sweet boy."

Hammy has come back from MBD & has been the light of Digi's life. Please, pray hard.

Hammy update:

"at 3 am vet called and did not yet have all blood work back. she said hammy's temp was 105 and she was starting baytril and fluids before she went home. next vet will be there at 730. i have to be at work at 7 but will call and hope rest of test results will be there. will leave work if i need to and will update when i know more".

Usu. muscle injury, overexertion, or a viral infection. Not sure if there are other causes.

Do you know what kind of crystals were in his urine? If he has a bit of a blockage, it could obviously decrease or eliminate his ability to urinate. :(
Do you know his glucose level?
Calcium-containing stones [calcium carbonate (calcite) and calcium oxalate] are most commonly reported in rodents. Signs can be abdominal pain, hunched posture, anorexia, lethargy, and weight loss. :(

From Lori tonight: "Cautiously Optimistic: I visited with Hammy after work today and the vet said his blood and urine are showing in normal range again. He is still not eating but while we were together I was able to get him to drink some water. They still don't know what caused this but are leaning toward a bacterial or some other sort of infection. I am more grateful than you know for all your love and prayers. If Hammy's condition stays the same as today or, better yet, improves by tomorrow, I am bringing him HOME! Thank you, God....and thank you, wonderful, dearest friends."

Yes, Hammy is on the mend, but still needs prayers. And, so does his momma. Hammy's two nights at the vet, blood work & xrays cost over $1200! If any of you can help, please do. Digi has one of the biggest hearts in the world & she's helped out a lot of us. She took Christine to the vet the first time that her previous owner found her with an injury & she paid the bill! He is peeing and pooping; urinalysis is clear, fecal is fine. Several blood tests won't be back until tomorrow. They have changed his antibiotic to try to fight the fever."

At this time, the best you all can do for Hammy is love, support and to help w/ financial costs.

A million criticisms of what is being done, judging the veterinarians, giving her advice in a non-constructive way doesn't help. It is easy to "google" the internet and think we know what going on....but it's more complex than that. That's why you have to go to school for 8 years to be a vet. Hammy is at one of the BEST vets with decades of experience. I trust that same vet w/ my baby's life. Have a little faith that D&C is doing everything she can....and so is the vet. Have some faith.

I don't have any new news today. I know that Hammy is still at the vet & was supposed to get an ultrasound. Haven't heard anything else. Talked to Hammy's mommy tonight. Hammy has had two good days in a row.
