I would think "poisonous" would really depend on the type of lizard. What is chickoo and how is he/she acting about now?

Actually it was pretty nutritious!
The tail is mostly meat...might get worms but I don't know if reptile worms like mammal hosts.

(I wonder if it tasted like chicken)

Jeez and all the time I have been feeding LB chicken for protein. Lizards must be the key. Glad your little one is okay though, must have been really scary and yucky!

Was it a brown or green anole? Or was it a skink lizard? Skinks are poisonous if eaten.

You would know by now if there was a problem with that lizard. Um, you may want to get a padlock for her cage at night...lock your bedroom door...Chicoo the Killer Palm Squirrel!!

I think it's interesting everytime someone posts something like this. There is a website out there that boasts it knows all about squirrel nutrition (it's not a forum). It says squirrels are vegetarians. I contacted them and told them their information was inaccurate that they are actually omnivores and he actually argued with me. I sent him a picture of a foxer eating a babybird to prove my point and he never commented back. I think squirrels may eat more meat than we realize, we just don't see it often, THANK GOODNESS!!!

what worried me was that chickoo recently went chasing a moth, ZIPPING around the room till she neatly caught it in her mouth and then................EEEEKK................munched away!!!

is she not getting enough protein in her diet?

she seems fine today.............woke up, played, ate her block (partially), and is now having her morning siesta :D

My grandma once told us about watching a wild squirrel catch and eat a lizard.

I think the term is opportunistic omnivores. Squirrels are only *mostly* vegetarian.

Yes that is true. I think eating baby birds and lizards is not a common thing, but it does happen :D The picture I saw was a nursing mother eating a baby bird. Maybe there was something the nursing mama was missing in her diet? Not for the faint of heart, here's that picture . . .

My fox squirrel will do the same thing, if she sees a moth or even a spider, she chases it down like a cat and chomps it right down. She's so fast too, it's amazing! I'm not sure if it means they're lacking protein or not. I think my girl gets plenty of protein. I think it's more instinct than anything else. At least when it comes to bugs.

Glad your girl is OK :grouphug
