I need to release Talula. She is going nuts and wants out. I think she is done being an inside squirrel. But here is the problem. She still loves to come inside and be held. She HATES the rain but will play in it for a bit. I think she would be a really good indoor out door. Although I suspect she will be out more than in. Atleast for now. As soon as bad weather and rain and the cold come around she may want inside. I need somebody who is ready for that. I cannot release her at my apartment. I will be moving and do not want her to stay here. I also need somebody who owns their home. This way I know she is safe. Lots of trees and not alot of cars. I know I being somewhat unreasonable but I can release her where Jackie is but not sure if she will take to the area. Also she is the only Eastern Grey where I am. That is what I am after for her. She is sweet and loves people. I will be in the SF area on July 7 and maybe able to work out something if somebody can meet what she needs.

Hello, CS!

Sorry it took me so long to respond!

I live in a Condo that is part of a huge Condo Complex w/many people! They really don't even like Squirrels here to be truthful. Maddening since this area was a huge Park years ago! There are 1,296 Units here! Also, right next to an 8 Lane Freeway.

These are two reasons out of many that I did not release my Nos here!

I am sorry I am of no help! If I had a house out in the middle of no where, I would be glad to be of assistance to you and Talula!

First of all, where are you moving that you can't take her w/you?

Second of all, I am a bit concerned for her safety, etc. I do hope you realize it is your responsibility to ensure that she gets a safe home since she doesn't appear to enjoy being outside entirely!

I just hope she isn't dropped off somewhere w/o someone looking out for her somewhat!? I know how much you love her.

She has become accustomed to her living arrangement of being inside and also outside. Funny that she really doesn't like rain. She is a spoiled baby!

I am just extremely concerned for her welfare is all!

Hopefully, you can take her with you where she can continue her lifestyle she is accustomed to if you can't find the appropriate home!

I am not trying to be mean to you but just looking out for Talula!

I am truly sorry I don't live somewhere that I could be of assistance to the both of you!

Please let us know what you decide!

Good luck!

Dana, Mother of Nos!

I may just keep her until I move. I am looking to get into a house so she can be indoor/outdoor. I still may release her when Jackie is since she is doing great. I am more worried about the elements and her. She may want to be perminently outside just not around here. I have to tell you at my Father in Laws it is a squirrel paradise. Lots of water, food, and no real enemies. Just 1 dog and the wildlife that live in the forrest. The bummer is I would have to hard release her or do it in about 3 days on a holiday weekend.
I don't have to release her I just think she maybe ready.

CS, you can do a soft release in 3-4 days. At the site where I release, we normally keep the squirrels in the pre-release enclosure locked up for 3-4 days, then open the portal and let them come and go as they please. You could do the same with her nest box and cage....leave it there for her to come and go, and our F-in-law can give you updates. Unless a squirrel is very young or compromised in some way, there's no need to keep them in the pre-release situatuion for weeks and weeks. :thumbsup

Not moving out of state. Staying local but if a soft release can be done in 3 days then thats what I will do. The area is absolutly perfect and I can rig up the small cage but I am sure once he house is in the tree she will sleep there. Food is abundent right now and there is never really a shortage up there. Plus I will get to see her ofter as we are always visiting.

The main problem is would I be in the same spot for 10 to 15 years to release her where we would move to. The answer is no and I would feel bad. I think the release at my fater in laws is good. There is some other options so I am just waiting to hear from them.

If she's ready to go,then she'll GO. Won't matter if you camp out under her nestbox, or you move to Tasmania....she's gonna GO. :D

She wants to go but then wants back in at night time. She is odd compared to Jackie. Once Jackie was out she was gone. Talula like to run to the invisable line. The point of no return and stops and comes back. I don't stop her. She stops herself. She is till not agressive at all. I think all in all she is not wild enough or at all. She needs to wild up. On her own or by being in an outdoor enviroment. I got an email from a person and am still waiting for another call. Last night we had a small microburst and scared the crap out of her. She hid in her box.
