Hi all, I have a little 12 week old gray who I just caught from my yard last Tuesday whose back legs are paralyzed. I won't bore you with all the details, but now she's losing weight. She had been gaining weight. She refuses Fox Valley from a syringe, but will drink it from a bowl. I would like to add some whipping cream to help her weight but not sure how much to add. Can someone please guide me on that? I'm trying to tell how much she's drinking of it, but she spills it. This morning I'm pretty sure she took 20cc, then this afternoon she spilled most of it, so not sure how much. She's of course drinking water.

She's also been offered apple, mango, avocado, zuchinni, snap pea, sweet potato and corn. I don't normally feed sweet potato or corn, but I'm pulling out all the stops to get her to eat. The sweet potato and corn were just offered tonight and she hasn't sampled either yet. So far the only thing she's tried is apple. She does like that.

She's also been offered yogurt and that was a no go.

She's also been offered a peanut butter ball (HHB + Peanut butter), a booball and plain HHB. Interestingly enough she went with the plain HHB. I've never known a squirrel to turn down peanut butter, LOL.

Long story about the dex, but she was just started on it tonight. So don't know if it will help her condition, but if nothing else, it should stimulate her appetite.

I did give her a pecan today (shelled) and she chowed that right down, so I know she's hungry. I know she'd fill up on nuts if I let her, but do I dare do that?

Help please :thankyou :grouphug

Well this is the base recipe for the Homemade Goats Milk Recipe that we suggest people use when they first obtain a baby squirrel and have to wait for their Fox Valley to arrive in the mail....

1 cup Goats Milk
1/3 cup Full Fat Vanilla Yogurt
1/3 cup Heavy Cream

And as you can see - its a 1/3 cup of Heavy Cream (whipping cream) per 1 cup of Goats Milk or You can say per 1 cup of Fox Valley...... so just go from there and adjust the amounts you need for your mixture accordingly.

Thanks Rhapsody! OK, so when you say 1 cup fox valley, you mean mixed up full strength formula, right?

BTW, she's gaining weight again as of this morning, YEA!!!!

I feed FV 32/40 and add Ultra boost for the older squirrels

FV32/40 - 3 to 1 - UB powder to 3 parts water

with cream I would say the same ratio as the Ultra Boost
I prefer the Ultra boost to cream because of the nutrient content...it's adding more than fat.
You can get Ultra Boost from FoxValley Nutrition

I prefer the Ultra Boost too for the same reason but in a pinch it's heavy whipping cream. It is slightly sweet and the squirrels generally love it.

I added Ultra Boost to my FV 32/40 for the first time this season -- but only for my three youngest. VERY good results, and I will use it from now on with those who come in as pinkies. :thumbsup
