We found this in our yard this morning. It looks like a bird of prey? We have hawks, owls, osprey, and eagles in our yard.139972

Looks kinda like a newborn morning dove to me. Where was it found and what happened to it?

The body alone was about 3 inches in diameter. I think it was too small to be a morning dove.

mourning dove babies are small when nestlings, but w/o the head tough to call. RIP little baby whatever you are.

My neighbor, who used to work with St Francis Wildlife, just came over and identified it as either a red shouldered hawk or a kite, both of which we have in our yards.

Kites have pointed wings....my bet would be on the hawk
