Yesterday afternoon we noticed a young squirrel going around in circles and bobbing his/her head. It did not appear to be frothing at the mouth or have any visible injuries, but we could stand a meter away and it didn't even really notice us. Just went crazily around in small circles.
It tried to climb a tree, but only got about a foot off the ground. I got it with my t-shirt and wrapped it, but it was pretty strong and I allowed it to brake loose. I did not wish to restraining it heavily in case it had internal organ problems.
Later, got it in a cardboard box and took it in the screen porch where it kept going around in circles. Called animal control, they wanted to kill it, saying it wouldn't survive the night. But it did.
Placed it inside box with towel, food, twigs and seemed calmer. It fell asleep on-off all night. Coughed quite a bit yesterday- not once today.
Today it's not going around in circles, I gave it 2-3 cc's of the "homemade" formula and it bit the syringe rather nicely. It's pretty much rolled up in a ball, I don't think it's in pain or suffering, but I really don't know what to do with 'Twisty' at this time since Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge is closed today. Anyone have any ideas besides spending a fortune at the vets? :thinking
