:sanp3 We released our eastern grey, Chester, on Mother's Day. He ran off, but then returned to his nest box, which we had mounted on an oak tree in our back yard with him in it before the release. We saw him on Monday morning, Monday evening, and Tuesday morning. However, some robins have built a nest on the back of our house and chased him off on Tuesday morning, flying at him, yelling at him and pecking at him. He didn't return for the rest of Tuesday, and wasn't there this morning, and his food in his dish hasn't been touched. I'd put a few walnuts in it, which he loves, and they're still there.
So the question is, should I move the nest box further down the tree line so that he's further away from the robins? They seem to tolerate squirrels better that are 20 or 40 feet further away. All of these are oaks, and all are in the same tree line, with connecting underbrush and a power line "squirrel highway" running along in line with the trees.
