Ok, I have noticed this a while. Just checking to see if anyone else's dear Squirrels do this?
When my Nos sleeps in his Hammock in the evening, I hear odd little peeps coming from him?
It is as if he is dreaming and talking in his sleep! When I check on him, he appears to be sleeping.
Am I losing it???:D

LB chatters and makes noises in her sleep.Sometimes I find myself running from a dead sleep just to make sure she is ok. Over protective dad I guess I am. Lol.

Squirrels, Cats, Dogs..... many Diff Animals.
I have seen a video of a dog that was dreaming (prob of running) as his legs where actually moving in the air as if he was in full gallop while he slept.

My dog kicks me in dead sleep while I think he is running! If LB is sleeping in my hoodie she makes little suckling noises and chatters a bit. She is more vocal asleep than awake!!!! :dono

This looks exactly like the little lady I took in today and she was doing the same thing. I have seen all of my animals do it including horses...I've seen them kick out a little bit.

I Don't Know...because the KING sleeps Inside his CASTLE--Inside his nest box--Under about 5 inches of folded up fleece..and if ANYONE tries to get ANYWHERE close to that nest box---Blood Curdling OINKS will emit from that SACRED BOX...

Yes one of mine does talk in her sleep and she is rather vocal at times, reminds of little chirps and squueeeekies. Scared me the first few times but now I am used to it so I say yes they do.

Is there a link to squirrel noises? Tickle makes a noise sometimes "in her sleep" that I have heard coming form my outside squirrels and I am clueless as to what she is "saying". :dono

I'm glad I came across this thread... of the 8 that I raised I never had a "loud dreamer" but I have one now... :) Hansel got a new adopted little sister 2 days ago - Pebbles - and she dreams a lot... makes the little grunt noises, jerks and squirms in her sleep... makes little chirping sounds.... it really is sooo cute.
And oh! Yes, her eyes opened on Sunday and today she decided she wanted to play for awhile... until yesterday all she did was eat, poop & sleep but today she even decided to test her little legs and tried climbing the sides of her tiny hamster cage :D Quite the teeny athlete :rotfl

Is the alarm call the "barking" sound? The one sound that Hope makes when she's sleeping is more of a high pitched "peeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" <my attempt at trying to make the sound! lol It's almost a whistle type sound. I've heard wilds make the sound during the day but Hope only does it when she's sleeping.

Yes they dream. I have heard Talula bark and chatter and do her happy noise in her dreams. Each time I get up and look. She is fully asleep. I sometimes wake her and hold her if she is barking. Thae alarm will wake right out of a dead sleep and make you wonder what is going on. Scared me the first time it happened.

On the scientific aspect, brain of animals during sleep is as if in rest mode, but still functioning.. So it is possible that like humans, animals could dream.
I reckon a :Squirrel's dream could be over acorns, or nightmares where golden eagle descent with gigantic claws...:rotfl Then they'll break out in cold sweat:Cry Aww poor babies...
Too cute!

I expect that they probably dream. Animals are not so different from us, after all. :)
