The sender of yesterday's email has been identified. TSB is considering options regarding this person.

It's unfortunate when incidents such as these happen, particularly when they involve good people such as the overwhelming majority of those who post here at TSB, and when one hurts, we all hurt.

TSB charges no membership dues, does not monitor personal messages, and is slow to give members timeouts or bans. Sometimes the board suffers for it. There are a small few individuals with past and present associations to TSB who thrive on drama, and are not content to live and let live. When these individuals monopolize our time, it's because they are unsatisfied with their own lives, and misery loves company.

However, it's important to keep everything in perspective. This is not the first incident here, it won't be the last, and the more attention we give these events, the more satisfaction we give to those who instigate them. The sooner we take a deep breath and move on, the better off we all are. That includes the squirrels, chipmunks, and other small beings which have always been the main reason for TSB existing in the first place.

I understand the need to move on but I would like to know the identity of the person. Maye not now as TSB and Leigh are exploring options (attorney, I hope), but eventually I would like to know who not to trust.

Admin, is there anything that can be done to reprimand / ban people when they violate the rules and trust of TSB? I keep reading / hearing about these viscious PM's, but has anyone actually turned any over to Admin? If so, what was the outcome? I understand that some of this stuff will continue, as IR mentioned in another thread, but can Admin take a stronger stand against violators?

Admin could, as other boards do, make it a policy to allow Admin to read PM's. The behind the scenes mud slinging would HAVE to stop as there would then be no way via TSB to harass another person. I doubt seriously if anyone on this board who sends pm's would object, unless they have ulterior motives. I'll take off my rose colored glasses now. :D

I would go along with whatever admin were to decide, but I prefer that PM's remain private only to be shared with the intended recipient and forwarded to admin when appropriate. Admin reading all our PM's sounds a little too much like "big brother" to me. I imagine if you have people that you are friends with on the board, you may speak a little more freely or use a little more "colorful" language that perhaps you would feel uncomfortable with Admin having privy to. Also, what if I were to discuss a personal issue such as a personal medical issue with a fellow TSB'er via PM that I have kept private and off the open board because I didn't want the whole community knowing about it. I probably would rather Admin not know about it as well.

Of course, if Admin were to change the rules regarding PM's, we would just have to realize that when we write and take personal stuff to an email. PM's are just so handy to catch someone quickly as we all are probably guilty of sneaking on the board when we should be doing other things.

I just hate to see the vast majority have to pay for the misdeeds of a few (I hope it just a few!).

Understand completely. I'm on another board for birds and they tell you up front, ALL messages can and will be read. I don't think they sit there and read just to read....how boring and weird would that be? But, I sure haven't seen any mud slinging there.......yet. Too much hate in the world already.....it's really, really sad.

:goodpost michele.... and TM.....

we'd need another 5 IR's if admin was reading pms....

besides... it makes sense... a questionable pm can be forwarded to admin ....

what are they 1 in 100?

While PM's are Private - I think they should be shared with ADMIN when there is a Problem.....
Copy & Paste the entire PM in Question into a New PM then forward to ADMIN -
thats how it is on most of the forums I have been a member with.

I wouldn't mind five IR's :poke

And yes, questionable PM's can be sent to ADMIN. I guess I am a dunce - I would never in a million years think people would use PM's to harass someone. The scope on my imagination did not extend that far:shakehead

I think we have some abusing their PMs and some making mountains out of molehills.

And while I am on my :soapbox I'd like to mention how I completely dislike how some are sneeking inuendos into their public posts in reference to other TSB members. I don't like it ... I don't like it one bit. Behavior like that puts them on the same level playing field as those they are referencing.

I think it ALL needs to stop.
I think its time we get back to why we're all here ... ahem, squirrels.

I, for one, will not be replying to anymore threads that waste time or energy. I think if all did the same we could help put an end to the negativity on TSB and help foster the light heartedness we all talk of wanting. Time for us all to put our money where our mouths are. (that was the nice way of saying "put up or shut up" :D )

I came in :peace and I leave in :peace !

This is, in fact, key to the problem: people DO NOT forward PM's to Admin most of the time. Instead, they tell Admin that they "got nasty PM's", or heard that "so & so got a nasty PM from so & so". But do we ever actually see them? RARELY. So when we don't ban members because we don't have proof, we're called "weak". :shakehead

That's a good idea. I work for the State of IL and some got all upset with our head office started archiving and having the ability to read and filter our email at the .gov address. I saw no problem - I'm working for the tax payer and I shouldn't be doing naughty things with their email or send nasty emails. I think its a privledge not a right to work for the state and the same for being in TSB - its a privledge

I live my life by this quote - I wish others did too.

Keep your words sweet -- you may have to eat them. I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. Grellet, Stephan

Well I guess we, as members, need to step up and do the right thing and forward any nasty PM's to Admin AND if a fellow member complains to us that they received a nasty PM, whether it was about them or just to them about someone else, we need to urge the fellow member to forward the PM to Admin.

I don't know how you folks do it with so many babies! I have 15 squirrels but thankfully they are not all babies! As a matter of fact, my last two babies no longer take a syringe and are experts at messy dish lapping of fox valley!

Thank God, I have never received any nasty PM's as the letter I received yesterday was upsetting enough!

It is truly frustrating when you stand behind someone and their product to receive an Email as such. Leigh has been an "open book" about her HHB's!

In my eyes, it is simple. Do NOT use them if you think they are not adequate and/or appropriate nutrition for your Squirrel or Squirrels.

I can only imagine how tired and frustrated Leigh must be regarding all of this! Truly, I am tired of it!

I support Leigh 100%. My Nos thrives on HHB's. He is beautiful.

IR, I feel those of us who received the Email should know who sent it. If I want to pay the small amount, I can find out myself. It is truly sad they had to send it out! Even worse that they can't sign their name to their work! Makes me think they are ashamed of it???

From time to time, I take a break from the Board. This is exactly why becos of all of the drama here! Also, the sadness gets to me often!

We are all here due to our love and well beng of our Squirrels! Hence, the name The Squirrel Board.

It is just sad ONLY a few continue to attempt to destroy the environment of the Board and it's purpose! Personally, I feel those people involved in this should be removed forever!

When I signed up on this Board, I would have never believed there was so much drama involving Humans and their Squirrels!:shakehead

With that said, God Bless our Squirrels and the good people of the Board!

Dana, Mother of Nos.............
