If he is younger than 4 weeks he should be eating Fox Valley 32/40 formula. If older than 4 weeks he should be on the Fox Valley 20/50.

If you call in your order and tell him you need it quickly he'll be happy to oblige. He can ship to you regular post 3-5 days and overnight. He's very nice and very easy to work with.
In the meantime you will need to feed your baby a home-made formula, but please for the sake of the baby, do not feed this for more than 4-7 days. It's a great temporary replacer milk but it lacks certain vitamins and minerals that the babies need to thrive. This recipe will ensure that your baby will be well nourished until your order from Fox Valley arrives.
Jackie (Jackie in Tampa) has graciously offered her temporary replacement formula recipe.
Jackie's Goat Milk Recipe
1 cup goats milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup dannon all natural vanilla yogurt
Mix well and keep in a covered plastic or glass container in the refrigerator. Replace after 48 hours.
Please note, this website has several links that still mention Esbilac and we need to keep these links active as they do contain excellent information so please keep in mind that Fox Valley is now the formula of choice for raising baby squirrels.
Hopefully this helps...I got it from the Baby Squirrel Section of this board.

I just got off the phone with her ... I disclosed my post. She laughed. I like the fact that I never have to try and figure her out. What you see is what you get. That's refreshing since God knows with some people you just never know who they are or what their agenda is. Anyway, she found the humor in it. <phew ... girl wipes brow and flicks sweat from fingertips> :D
Ok, I gotta go make a batch of Boo Balls for my motley crew. G'night.

Thanks for keeping folks updated...sorry I missed the fireworks ... a I said before about all that ...I'm done.
little girl 10w/o hydrated but skin and bones just wants a warm body to snuggle with.
The wonderful folks that found her gave her pedialyte so when i fed her it was very dilute 32/40. i will give her another feeding in a few hours. once she's on full strength I'm going to add ultraboost to the 32/40 because she is so TINY!! she clung to me like ...well, a life boat and i guess that's what I am.
I'd have to venture a guess that she has been wandering for at least a couple of days to be so emaciated. Poor little thing. I'm so glad Jerri's daughter brought her home and they found us here.
She'll fit right in with the rest of the crowd here:Love_Icon
Thanks for taking care of business :alright.gif

Finally a minute to type
Little girl is definitely not right.
I handled her as little as possible last night only to hydrate and make sure she was warm and lungs were clear. they are a bit raspy. gave her SMZ-TMP.
She was terrified.
~had a tiny bit of blood around the nostrils and a cut across the lips
~bottom left tooth is chipped but not badly.
~crawling around and startling
~cannot hold food or sit up AT ALL
~very fluffy tail
~107g this am
~not curling tail at all
~not 10 weeks, maybe 8, the tail is a amazing and fur is lush and deep
~uppers have erupted
She is not getting around well at all...she looks depressed.
I'm going to do the best I can do...hopefully she will b releasable

Thank you IR
I can use any and all help on this one,,,she is a mystery and yes HBC is probable as is a nose dive from the nest.
It freaks me out how skinny she is. I was holding her and rubbing her,,,poor little thing CRAVES luvin,,,and i thought i felt something hard wrapped around her neck,,,IT WAS HER SHOULDER STRUCTURE...I cannot get over how thin she is under all the thick beautiful fur
I ending up tubing her last night and hated every minute of it.I don't know how else to get nutrtion in her.
The strange thing is that she has a very odd behavior. She is methodically and almost robotically opening and closing here mouth with the intent to bite down on something. I am giving her soaked rat block and made up some BooBalls and gave her some avocado. She is not chewing but rather opening and closing her mouth.
I may take her down to Morris (a 1+hr drive) to see Dr Bainbridge today, He is an Exotic vet that actually rehabbs wildlife...2HR referred me to him. They are AWESOME. Even the Ladies at the front desk are knowledgeable on wildlife..
I don't want to loose this little girl.

I would imagine part of that is because she is so very thin. Have you tried doctoring the heck out of the formula - a little maple syrup maybe? I know IR makes a rehydrating solution with apple butter in it, maybe a little of that in the formula would pique her interest?

It's a thought :thinking
I have powered Tang...could probably dip the nipple in that?
My main focus has been getting her FV ramped up to the point where she can get proper nutrition. I'm afraid of diluting it with anything more
I had to tube her again
Her top gums are protruding thru her lip now and are very pale.
I don't want to give her anything more than the SMZ-TMP until I get her to Bainbridge...he's really booked today too.
She looks a very little bit better today and by that I mean her tail actually lifted up a bit...otherwise it lays flat

By this I meant that she is sticking her nose into something with the intent to BITE down ... open close open close open close...
it's really weird...almost neurotic
NOT
guppy breathing

If she is taking full strength FV without any poop or bloating issues, you just reduce the water you mix it with by the amount of other stuff (apple butter) you are adding. I'm not talking a lot - I am hoping that a little yummy sweetness might jog her appetite. I wonder if she has some neuro issues - who knows whathappened to the little thing before she was found.

drop by drop saves lives...tubing is not recommmended for sqs...be patient, it saves lives...
try adding a water diluted molasses fluid as a in between formula and hydration...using three fluids to get her out of the woods.
dilute the FV (plain, no additives)
the home made hydration fluid is always better than store bought, really.
MUgz, please help this sq and follow solid sound known protocol, please.
Good luck baby sq...:Love_Icon

Must be something about the apple flavor. I have had babies turn their noses up at the homemade formula as well as the orange flavored Pedialyte brand but when I use the Winn Dixie store brand that is apple flavor, they just lap it up. Even when I think they are slow to get used to the syringe and nipple, just put the Winn Dixie brand, apple flavor rehydrating formula in it and all of a sudden they are taking it like champs.
I'll have to get some of IR's organic apple butter and have it on hand for the next baby and try it!

Michele :thumbsup ,
I too have found that a dollop of organic strained apples (babyfood) in the formula has even the pickiest of eaters nom-nomming their FV.
WAIT!!!!! IR, you make apple-butter????????? I must have the recipe as I LOVE LOVE LOVE apple-butter. I know some people love it on toast ... I say, who needs toast? Give me a SPOON! :D

After many subQs (to the point she was leaking like a soaking hose) and complete utter refusal to take so much as take a sip little Joli left us. I am sad beyond words.
Sorry I did not post right away....there are others to be cared for.
Joli was tiny with a round elfish face. I wonder if she was downs. She had that same look to her with that short head. I called Willowbroook and Fox Valley, I was going to take her to the Wildlife vets but Joli left this morning before I could take her anywhere.

They can "bite me" too (I will bite EVER so hard back)
If she hadn't been found by the board I would not have posted.
I do not post or boast about my babies anymore because....
This little girl quite likely went into organ failure from lack of hydration and nutrition. I dare say that she was wandering lost long before she was found.
It breaks my heart even thinking about it.
