Some birds won't go around an owl, don't know about a crow. Dummies have been used to keep birds off of and out of some building areas, gardens, residential balconies, porches and such. Not sure, but wouldn't think a squirrel would be fond of it either so it could be a catch 22.
Since an owl is a predator the purpose with (general) birds is so they see it from the air and avoid the area. It's best to hang it rather then stand or prop so it moves with the wind and appears more life like.
I think a squirrel would probably stare at it awhile with that frozen posture thing they do, figure out it's fake and assume it's just another trinket we humans amuse ourselves with.
After that they would probably just chew a hole in it... or sit on it while eating a nut.

Don't know if this will work, but may be worth a try. Buy some frozen mice and put them out for the crows. They are only doing what comes naturally, eating and perhaps if you give them other food, they will leave the live ones alone. Just an idea.

Are these the same Diver babies that can't stay in their nest?

Actually ANY type of food AWAY from that nest might work but that crow WILL be back.
You will have to feed it everyday and it may bring friends.
I've gone toe to toe with the crow. Fact of the matter is, they need to eat too.

I have no idea. Maybe they are all there. and no I didn't give them to them because they couldnt take it and thought it was better to give them back to the mother.

I'm thinking of trapping them and then.... watever...

http://www.crowbusters.com/crowtrap.htm

oh and they keep taking them but I saw the mother coming back with one. They team up 2 crow and take one then mother try to get it then the other crow get another one... Im really piss. If I could I would break their neck with my barehand...

there is a thread somewhere , authored by BuddysMom...she actually used human clothes, scare crows...she is on Kent Island and is still using them...sorta cute, as she buys them new outfits yearly at tag sales!!:D

I personally like the crows here, they keep the hawks away...
what will work best is to find their natural enemy in your area, and feed that enemy.

I've seen pigeons sitting right next to owl decoys :rotfl

A crow knows a decoy
so will a squirrel

Anything you get to scare off a crow will scare off a squirrel.

I have used scarecrows etc with no luck.
Crows are smarter than half the human population...very social
Mom has the best defense as long as she can keep it up.
Offer support to this poor mommy
food, water, so she doesn't need to go far from her babies

I know it's frustrating.
Crows are so cool but they can be very pesty
You can try flapping flags, rattling tin cans

but it may scare the mamma more :dono

it's not like keeping crows from the corn
You can't scare corn

:rotfl :rotfl So true on the squirrel thing! Made me laugh! Thanks I needed that. :rotfl :rotfl
Also about the hawk , the crows accompany the Red Tails in my yard and try to take away whatever she has killed. They make so much noise it usually alerts me to the hawks that are lurking. If my dogs don't first. :shakehead

I was thinking an electronic owl that moves...

And if the squirrel is scared maybe he will move but I doubt it will...

When I was thinking of ways to reinforce my "hawk-protection" netting over my deck, I came across info that CDs - just regular CDs - keep hawks away. So, I put them up and, whether it is them or smth else, but the hawk has not been around for a while (knock on wood). So, why not try it?
Perhaps, there is a way to hang a few those sparkling CDs around the nest/box?... my squirrels can't care less about them, but they might help with crows as they are supposedly helping with hawks.

PS Also remember reading that crows are, actually, inviting hawks to a potential prey site, because they end up either eating the "crumbs" off the hawk's "dinner table", or if there are two or more crows, snatch the prey away from the hawk...

Net the tree. Just try to throw netting up there. The mom will get through but the crows should not be able. Neeting is cheap and it would be temporary.

Cap gun works well. But I need to be there. Mom is eating and seem to not go far away. Ill put the nest box on my room that's the best I can do.

I fired the cap gun just to make sure it was ready and I saw the crow which was far away fly away. Maybe he will understand now.

Here is a picture of the mother squirrel who performed the Superman Squirrel Death Jump.

A somewhat longer-term solution....put up a bird feeder. Bluejays and mockingbirds especially will not tolerate crows anywhere near their territory. I always felt like my backyard sqs were a lot safer because several pairs of jays and mockingbirds were always hanging around. Good luck.

Great Idea ! I will try that. I hope there is some in Québec.

Sadly the fake owls, electronic or fixed, do not work.... I have seen crows perched right on the thing's head at my neighbor's :( He had a fixed one, then bought an electronic one thinking if it wmoved it would work .... but not... same thing went on... squirrels, cows, hawks perch on the thing ...:(

I personally shoot the crows with my bb gun, I bought it last year when I was releasing my babies and the crows/cats wouldnt stop coming after them. I pump it up twice and give them a little sting, it wont to into the skin at two pumps even three depending on distance. It sure keeps those cats out of my woods and away from my wilds and the crows stay away too. Hawks and falcons get the same treatment also. It may sound mean but it works for me. It really just bounces off of them but it scares them. I can go days without seeing a crow so I've come to think the ones that do show up either havent gotten that sting yet or havent learned their lesson. My dad also follows up if I'm not home (he secrectly likes the fuzzbutts) just wont say so,lol.
