Talking to my ex-supervisor (NOT the one that fired me) - two days ago a kitten was brought into the emergency center and she decided to take it home and try to rescue it rather than have it euthanized. She says its approximately 2-3 weeks old - she has it in a container over a heating pad, but the kitten refuses to eat. He doesnt appear to be dehydrated when she's done the pinch/tent test - tummy doesnt appear to be bloated. She has no pics yet. Kitty will lick some recovery off of her finger, but that is it. I've never raised an orphan kitten before, so I only know the basics. Any thoughts/suggestions on how to help this little one?

Maybe I can help a little spykitten. If kitty is not dehydrated, do they seem stuffy, able to breath properly through their nose? Many times, when their sense of smell is diminished, their appetite follows suit. I always get the stinkiest smelliest fishiest food that I can momentarily stomach to throw into a cat dish; and even those with impaired smell, will usually be tempted to eat.
Good luck with the kitty. It is wonderful for you to try to help.

good luck with the kitty.
Has your friend tried different techniques or different nipples? I know I was struggling with the 2 little ones I just got until I found a nipple they liked, then turned around a Karma started nursing them go figure...
Dont suppose there is a nursing momma cat anywhere near by.
Is the kitty pottying like it should. If its constipated it wont eat either.

No mama cats that Im aware of - I will tell her to try some different nursers and make sure she's been pottying when I talk to her tomorrow. Thank you for the input :) Karma is such a great mommy - Thats amazing how she took in those little ones. What a beautiful story :Love_Icon

Well I hope that this kitty will have as much success as the karmakazies have. If there is anything I can do to help let me know.
