Just wondering.. has anyone ever given their babies a rawhide chewie to play with? Like the ones made for dogs? I have a bag of the rawhide squares for my dog and I can't give them to him because they're too small for him (he's 70+ pounds). Is it safe to give one to the babies to chew on?

so they say...
they are dangerous to dogs...swelling up and can cause blockage...
they have the possibility of rancid..meat product.
I am not dog guru...but i would not offer them, maybe someone else has more solid info.

Raw hide is bleh it's dried skin... Um serious yummyness if you think about it...it's skin that has been treated with chemicals to keep it from returning to dust...stretched...and re treated...it's unworked leather
I wouldn't but i have however given my dogs and one squirrel I had b4 dog chicken jerky..you can buy it at walmart it's chicken breasts turned into jerky. In the dog section they have one with chicken breast wrapped around yams.

Okie dokie... No rawhide then! (Atleast for the squirrel babies... If i took Gixxer's (my pup) rawhide away, I fear I would have a very angry Moose on my hands. Thanks guys :)

Deer Antlers are good for them and so is a good old piece of wood....... just place a large piece of a safe branch in their cage for them to jump around on and they will chew on it as well.
I really haven't given that much thought.
I kinda have to side with the others on the antler thing.
As they mentioned, rawhide is very devoid of nutriain.
