Well they don't specify the breed...
say it's an exotic and not a squirrel "found outside".
I will email and inquire...may be flyers.

I just saw this ad just now and was about to make a post about it...Isn't it illegal to sell wild animals in Florida? :/

This is what it says on the listing:

Looking for a new home.
Please tell me your experience with them and how you will provide for her.
We have many babies but she is the only one left for a new home.
This is an exotic animal please expect to pay $150 to ensure good home.

(people will pay more for a sugar glider and in my opinion squirrels are better)
She is not a manged up squirrel just found outside.

Karen, have they emailed you back yet? =o

tinfoil a flyer is an actual sq...they are awesome...
better bonding ability than greys for sure...they adore humans too!
They are native to Florida,AND MANY PLACES, they are wildlife 100%!

Just a random question.. this has little to do with the ad directly but more something that posts like this have had me wondering since I joined here.. if its legal to own a squirrel in Florida but its not legal to buy one, how exactly is one supposed to obtain one legally? Are people allowed to take them out of the wild there?

I just think its weird because here its legal to own a lot of animals as long as they are purchased and not taken out of the wild.. Like for example, its legal to own a red squirrel here, without a permit even, as long as you buy it, but of course no one really breeds and sells reds.. I'm not saying I think it should be legal to buy them in Florida, I'm just curious about the law.. :thinking

Here you are allowed to keep them if you find them in the wild, so yah I guess you could even capture one and call it your "pet" cuz it's illegal to buy here, and I've heard they're extremely hard to breed. I don't really get it either, but when I had my squirrels, I was happy with it lol I used to say that was the one thing actually liked about stupid Florida lol

The sales of wildlife is illegal in florida..
the fines can be stiff, upto $2500...

Nothing wrong with non rehabbers raising sqs if they do the research, but when money is involved...it becomes a problem.
By buying sqs, we are doing bad and helping evil pay their electric bills, I so worry if we buy it will become obsession for free money and nest raiding will be a factor...
however I buy every sq I can..
if it appears innocent, I explain the laws and the fines.. I preach wildlife no show and tell...hoping they are just naive.
If I am suspect there are ugly things going on...I call a friend affiliated with FWC and pass on the info..
squash them legally...no playing with Mother Nature for money:nono

It is bad, but heck if I had the money I would buy and then later release. Yah I'm giving money to the guy, but I'm rescuing a squirrel too.

I wonder if this squirrely is ok =/ Any news Karen?
