Is it possible for squirrels to have hemorrhoids?? I have a litter of 4, about 6-7 weeks old (eating Fox Valley). I noticed that one of the poops looked odd this morning. Upon closer examination (what I won't do for these animals!) there was some clotted blood next to the poop (not mixed in with it). It was red, so undigested blood.
Should I be worried?? All of them are eating & behaving normally. All are gaining weight (in the 130-150 range). :dono

Parasites are the most likely cause for rectal bleeding. There maybe an injury to the rectum? Internal bleeding farther inside would show as black or occult blood rather than fresh and red.
Is there mucous in the blood?
Was it jelly like?

Thanks for the response. I do not see any injury on any of them. Blood was defintely more "jelly-Like"/clotted. Not black. Separate from the poop rather than mixed in.

Can you get it into a vet for a fecal analysis?
Are you sure which end it came from? :tilt

I'm 99% sure it is coming from below. Is this life-threatening or can I get a sample to the vets on Monday?

The fresher the better
Is it life threatening?
It could be
It depends on what it is and how much blood the baby is losing over time. 3 days could make a big difference.
