My name is Keri, I live in St. Louis, Mo. I had recently done much research on southern flying squirrels. After doing the phone call chase, I was told that they are legal to own as long as they came from a licensed breeder. The rep I talked to asked if I already had someone I was getting them from, I told her that we were going to an animal auction in Macon. She was familiar with the auction and said we should be fine.
So, we went to the exotic animal auction in Macon Missouri. It was awesome, got to pet a Zebra, Red Kangaroo and MANY monkeys. We also saw a great deal of birds, birds and more birds. From Swans and Geese to Parrots and finches, there were also a couple of owls and even a Kookaburra. There were also sugar gliders, chinchillas, and other pet store animals. Porcupines, Coatimundi, Foxes, Bobcats, Cavi, and of course Flying squirrels.
We ended up taking 2 home (male female pair) we had decided at this time to split them up, they are about 1 year old and not hand tame, if we cant tame them we will put them back together so they aren't lonely. The boy is named Itachi and the girl is Tali.

We are super excited about them and we're going to be trying some egg tonight and maybe some chicken :)
