Four baby raccoons - no mama

Walking around our building - one found dead already. Have put water out for them - what can I put out for food? They are watching me through the bushes. My traps are at home. Who can I call once I get them or do I need to get them????? I am in Jacksonville in the Craig Airport area off of St. Johns Bluff/Atlantic Blvd.

They are too scared of me. They are eating the Hills Science diet that I snuck from one of the dog in our office. Whoopsie. Anyway - call me. I took a picture and am trying to email it to myself so I can post. I know nothing about these guys so age - no clue.

I cannot find Anne and I lost her number once I went to her home-didn't think I'd need it cause I didn't get lost!! I have no way to pick them up - if I could pick them up, we have mounds of boxes in the building! I have no gloves and the electricians from the other side of the building are all out until 5 or 6 tonight, then church services are in our building at 6. I'm starting to panic - I don't want to lose sight of them. They have crawled into the hedge, huddling together. We ar on a cul-de-sac so everyone comes here and turns around, scaring the babies.

Pop a box over them while they are eating. You will then at least know where they are and will be more able to relax and figure it out. I have done it with kittens. Once you can get a carrier you can cut a "doorway" in the box and put the carrier or another box with both ends closed and a "doorway" cut, but closeable with tape in front of it so they can walk right into it.

Just got home - 10:15 pm without the other baby. Been sitting out front in booger woods:aka: my office building, with a .38 Taurus and lots of green tea, She is still up the tree and did not come down. Been there since 8:40 after our meeting. Only thing I got in the trap is the cat I have been feeding :sanp3
Looked like a meteor flash when I let that cat out of the trap. She ran through the field into the woods.

Our office building is lit up like Ft. Knox - man who owns the building is an electrician so you can only imagine all of the lighting on our cul-de-sac. I'm wondering if maybe all of the bright lights have anything to do with her staying up that little oak tree? I have no idea. I just hope and pray she is in that trap tomorrow morning when I get to work.

Other three are huddled in the corner of the carrier but they have been eating/drinking. Oh and :poop The urge to open that carrier and love on them is driving me crazy. :Love_Icon :Love_Icon :Love_Icon

Okay, if that little knucklehead isn't in the trap you can try putting the carrier with sibs in it with the door facing the closed end of the trap. When the baby comes to see its family it will go inside the trap to get closet to them. I have used the "kittens as bait" trick many times with great success with the littlest most fearful one always being last. :grouphug

Got here at 7:15 - no baby, no sign of it either. Nothing else in he trap either. :shakehead When my boss leaves, :D I am racing home and get the carrier with the other babies in it and bring back with me and sit outside by the hedge/tree they were in yesterday. Do you think they will make some noises and that may attract the other? :dono I have to start on payroll for my guys today but I want that baby more. PRAYERS PLEASE!!

You will be surprised how quickly a hungry cat forgets how a trap works! Set the scene with the carrier and the trap with the sheet over the whole thing and just the trap door showing. As long as there is no real danger of humans messing with it, go do your payroll and let nature take it's course. :grouphug :grouphug :grouphug

That is the side of our building and the field/woods where they came from. They played in the rock pile yesterday before I found them according to the preacher who has this view from his window - yuck!

Update on Raccoons: 3 boys,1 girl:D 2 sweet calm ones,2 growly biting ones.:jump :jump All safe and sound in a cage together. Next plan is to rehydrate and feed tonight, still have some Raccoon FV left! Pictures sometime soon,

Got a call at 5:15 today - two more babies looking in the front door and as usual, the TWO men who let the last baby get out of their sight, let these two meander off Lord only knows where!

So, within 15 minutes I was there with traps, food, sheet and gloves. No sightings yet but I did see some tracks as the sprinklers were on. They were last seen in the same hedges as the others.

Fingers crossed they get in the traps this weekend. :D
