OK, so my pinkies are going strong on the half goat milk mix and half FV. Too STRONG.LOL My babies are able to suck the formula out of the 1cc o-ring syringe without me pressing it. I go so slow and try to control them, but what do I do? When they get a good latch onto it and suck, I take that opportunity to start my slow decent of the plunger, But sometimes they are so out of control! Just a few minutes ago, my boy got some milk bubbles from his nose!!!!!!!! Not a lot, and I tipped him right into the towel and dabbed it dry. How bad is this risk of him having it in his lungs? I am still feeding them every two hours, so they dont get so crazy hungry, but they still are. My girl is VERY active and looking to suck on everything. They have gained significant weight, so I know they are getting enough food. My syringe is new and very smooth flowing, but they can suck the milk out on their own. This worries me. If I hold the plunger back, then they get lots of air bubbles and this makes more risk of aspiration, with a mouthfull of foam ( and who wants that in their tiny bellies ). Any ideas??? How do I slow them down?? If I take the nipple away they get even MORE frantic. I wish the silicone nipples had an even smaller hole. I have to block the nipple with my finger otherwise they want to engulf the whole thing. This is OK, I am able to do that.

Go to this site, it's the mini nipple set that Karen sells, you may want these for the future with pinkies. Right now, I would not recommend getting these for your little ones though, but you may want to consider these if you get more pinkies.

I know that the new syringes can work really well, but it really is better than a sticky one where you sometimes can plunge it too hard trying to get it to work. I think if you can keep them from engulfing the whole tip, that may be the trick to getting them to eat slower.

Question:
How deep in the mouth with the nipple is the safest way to feed a young squirrel? It always amazes me that they want to "inhale" the nipple and will suck it in as far as you let them. I use the mini-nipple set from Squirrels and More on pinkies and if given the chance they will completely engulf those, such that I swear the end of the nipple must be in their esophagus. How do deep do you allow the nipple to go and do you think it is safer to just dribble it into the front of their mouth or allow it go deeper?? Or do you individualize depending on the squirrel? I just thought it would be interesting to hear how others handle this!
Thanks:thinking
