I have a young male (ca. 4 weeks old) who has not deveolped a taste for Fox Valley -fussy eater. Can I add some apple juice to the formula to entice him (or is that too much sugar)? His pedialyte rehydration was apple flavored and he drank that (though not as well as his siblings).

I am not a licensed rehabber to be handing out advice. The only thing I will note though is that when I have a baby that is constipated? I give them only 1 or 2 cc's of apple juice and it works everytime. I just hope it doesn't make stools to loose. Just had to mention that. Poor baby, I have never had one not like FV.

Have you checked to see if there may be something wrong with his mouth? How about his reflexes... does he seem as alert as the others? He may need feeding a little more often with just a bit at a time so he could get used to the taste. :thinking Some babies take longer than others to take to being fed with a syringe. Are you using a syringe, in the first place, and if so, are you using a nipple on the syringe?
I'm asking all these questions because, since you mentioned that even with the Pedialyte he didn't drink as well as his siblings I wonder if maybe there isn't another issue than the FV taste here. :dono
I'm not sure about apple juice in the FV... a pro would be better qualified than I am for that.

Try a little yogurt and/or heavy cream mixed in the FV. Good luck:grouphug

I would not add apple juice to the formula as it can cause runny stools when drank daily..... I would mix full fat vanilla yogurt in the formula.

Hi all,
He is doing better today. What seemed to help was feeding him first, then feeding the others. After the others have eaten (ca. 30 mins.) he will eat some more. Ohterwise, he seems fine.
Thank you!

:thumbsup - that is exactly how I handle fussy eaters - feed them first and then after I have fed everyone else, I go back and try to get a bit more in the problem child!
