Trying to upload a photo of Chasco with no luck anywhere. So I am going to try here. We need help with his age and eating habits please. I believe he is a juvenile. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=213768011971428&set=a.213767981971431.68323.100000146934072&theater

full grown eastern grey squirrels can range from 16-21 inches long (including tail length). Based on one book I have, I would say your squirrel is less than 6 months old. (Kim Long's Squirrels a wildlife handbook)

If I were to have taken a guess, I would have said between 7-8 weeks. I'm getting better at this. :D
BTW... He's a cute little fuzzer, don't think he likes being pinned down next to a ruler though. :shakehead

I agree, he didn't like to be held still. But I wanted to be accurate in asking for advice and giving a good judgement photo. I have been rehabbing flyers for a year now and he is our first larger guy. It is time to broaden our efforts in helping the wildlife out. So we are eager for the on-the-job-training that we receive with every new species. We release a screech owl 3 months ago that was hit by a truck at 55mph. It was just another experience that made our choice to be in the gap, more solid! Thank everyone for your help and instruction. God Bless!:thankyou :thankyou :thankyou

I looked on the nutrition feed and saw no gauges on what to feed what type at what age. So I need to know where to look or just what to be feeding a 7-8 week old Grey Squirrel. :dono :dono :dono

Ideally you need to get some Fox Valley formula – you can get it here: http://www.henryspets.com/categories/Rehab-Supplies/
Mix as directed and give about 5-7% of body weight in grams, ie for 100 gram squirrel give 5-7 cc approximately every four hours via syringe with nipple tip - also available on site above.
Until you get the FV Formula, you can use the following homemade formula (thanks to Jackie in Tampa):
1 cup goats milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup dannon all natural vanilla yogurt
Other questions??

Chasco is doing AWESOME! We went last night to pick up a few things at the grocery and Chasco's tab was larger than our own. He has lots of healthy food to give him the quality of life that he so deserves. We have a large enough assortment to keep him from getting bored with "the same ole thing". Thank you everyone for all your assistance!!!:bowdown :bowdown :bowdown
:Welcome OK, so now we are friends on FB too. He is sooo cute.. You are getting lots of good advise here on TSB to take care of your little guy.

Hi Domino Effect! We're neighbors (I'm in Tampa). Welcome! I laughed when I saw that Chasco's tab was larger than your own. That's the way it always is with me. I feed 13 squirrels right now and they definitely eat better than we do. Plus their diet is HEALTHY whereas, I have been depending on not so healthy food for us due to time contraints!

We love chasco!:squirrel1 We have two flyers that we rescued as Lil babies. They are Chipper and Squinter. I begin my 1000 hours with a Florida Wildlife Rehabber this weekend. It's a requirement in Florida before you can obtain your rehabber permits. I am sooo excited to get it underway!:jump I have 138 rescues of all sizes and species myself. But She has 1000's and I am ready to start cuddling, medicating, housing, and cleaning. Great to have you on board with Facebook. You can check out my wife's page as well. She has the Domino Effect page with a profile photo of Domino goat encircled by photos of some of our other animals. Look forward to meeting and making more friends.:wave123 :beerchug
