Hi, mirzaei2003. :wave123 Given your pictures and location, I think the squirrel is probably Sciurus anomalus, the Persian squirrel. Squirrels rarely transmit disease to humans, so I wouldn't worry to much about getting sick from the squirrel. Someone with more knowledge about caring for squirrels will probably reply soon with answers to your other questions. Best of luck, mirzaei2003.

That is truly a beautiful squirrel. I'm not sure if there are different requirements for squirrels from different parts of the world but here is a link to some general squirrel nutrition on this board: http://www.thesquirrelboard.com/squirrel_nutrition.htm
Maybe someone else will come on and can help you with an estimated age. Do you have a scale that you can weigh him on? That might help.
How long have you had him. Would love to hear more about him.
Michele
Very pretty squirrel.:thumbsup
Check the internet for info on the diet of Persian Squirrels.
There may be something available.
From its general appearance, I'd guess it to be around eight to ten weeks old.
Probably closer to ten.:)
Did a quick check on diet, and didn't find much.
I'd suggest local foods available where you are at.
You can then try observing them in the wild and see what they eat.

:Welcome to TSB -- he sure is cute!
The best way to keep a squirrel from being bored is to give him natural things that he would chew and play with in the wild. If you can see other squirrels of his kind in the wild, watch what they do and the kinds of buds & fruits they eat. Cut branches for your squirrel and put them in his cage - you'll see how happy this makes him!. You can also string fat ropes or twisted material from one end of the cage to the other so he can run along it and swing. Have you seen Mia's thread? She is a beautiful squirrel in saudi arabia whose 'papa', merman, has created many fun things for her to play with:

You can give him little stuffed animal toys, too -- squirrels love to wrestle them and roll around :)
Adorable squirrel. i don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I'd also take the collar off that little one before he gets caught on something and/or hurts its neck and shoulders. It happens very quickly and easily. :)

I really don't know much if they have a special diet different than other Squirrels, but with my nearly 2.5 years experience with her, as all other squirrels, they LOVE barks. Apple branches, raspberry branches, clover, roses, daisies (but NOT from flower shop, they might be treated), POMMEGRANATES (mia LOVES em) and all other fruits. You should try all, and see what he will like or dislike..
In the morning, 1st thing, give him the main food that you want him to eat. And after that, his fruit/vegetable salad!
Mia has a special condition, and i have to put her ecollar, and this prevents her 'hold and eat' her food. So i give her food in small pieces.
It is advisable to buy online squirrel blocks or bake your own blocks.
You know, they are very calcium sensitive and they need high calcium food.
So when Mia cannot eat blocks (generally she doesn't eat them, or when she wears her ecollar) i prepare her a bowl of oats (quick cooking oats and oat flakes mixed), i crush in cashews and dust with calcium powder.
She loves grape juice (no sugar added) so i crush cashews in a small bowl (4-5 cashews) and dust with calcium and drop some grape juice and mix them..
She LOVES this and she gets her calcium needed. (generally i prepare this in the night, and i give her in the morning when they are not wet)
Talking about Mia, she is very playful and she gets sad if no attention is paid to her ! :D
You can check the link i posted above, and prepare a playing area for him. They like to be high from ground, so you can build some wooden or blanket (or combined as in Mia's thread) climbing areas in a corner of a room.
Is he always in a cage or he has a room for himself ?
Mia is the owner of my appartment, and i am just living in her room with her! :D
Emmm.. What else.. I will check your thread and reply to you if you have questions, or if i remember anything else to share.

I talked about cashews, because this is her favourite!
She buries all other nuts, but eats cashews :tilt
I also crush up squirrel blocks and soak the pieces with apple juice or grape juice, then she eats them.
I hope your boy eats squirrel blocks, so you don't need to worry about his diet or calcium needs..
Mia also loves mushrooms. But if you have a chance to collect the mushrooms from wild, wow, your boy will go crazy :D
Favorite vegetable is lettuce!
I also give her mealworms, freeze dried or canned. I cannot get live worms here. Don't feed him earth worms!

Hello hello..
You should be a little tough to get them eat healthy stuff.
If you don't give him hazelnuts, he will get hungry and so he will start eating healtier stuff and vegetables.
And after he's eaten, you can give him hazelnuts as a treat.
Please, please pay attention for calcium intake. You should sprinkle calcium on his food.
You can check and order squirrel blocks from www.henryspets.com
These blocks has the complete nutrition for a squirrel!
I order from US to Saudi Arabia.
Please keep us updated..
