I've never seen my little guy down anything like he downs tomatoes! Even fruits like apples and pears which he loves, he gets tired of them about halfway through a slice. But tomatoes... he would probably eat a full tomato if I offered it to him. I was wondering which group these would fall into, healthy vegetable or fruits/snacks. (And I know tomatoes are really fruits, don't need that explained to me lol.) I'm saying that according to the squirrel diet lists.
When I look at the healthy diet for squirrels, it lists cherry tomatoes as a healthy veggie/food, I'm just curious if that goes for all tomatoes and not just the cherry kind or if cherry are the only ones considered very healthy and the rest should be offered in moderation as snacks since it is a fruit?

I personally place my TOMATOES as a VEGETABLE..... and so does MY DOCTOR :thumbsup
but I do limit the amount my squirrels take in (give one week then skip the next).
or give every few days, but not every day.

Ah okay, I got super excited to think that something he loves that much fits into the healthy veggie list. The only veggies he'll eat are the ones that are soft and juicy like a fruit, which excludes the majority of them lol.

I like using the grape tomatoes. I think they stay fresh longer.

We switch up between the grape tomato and cherry tomato here. She devours them on my head I am usually covered with seeds.

LOL!
Are there any types that aren't as healthy for them as others? I know there are types with different acid levels and stuff.. like the yellow ones that have no acid in them.. I just think its weird that the nutrition list only mentions cherry ones instead of just tomatoes in general.
As for them staying fresh longer, never have a problem with that lol. I love tomatoes even more than he does, they don't last very long in my house to begin with. :D
