1 week old baby girl squirrel just found....I need the pedialyte recipe...I'm warming her now and don't have the time to look...I need to clean her face and she has a small wound...pics to follow. Thanks!
1 tsp salt (teaspoon)
3 Tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
1 quart warm water
Keep refrigerated.
So thrilled to see you, wished it were under different circumstances...anything you need help with, just ask...
You pretty much know the drill...
If you think this could be cat caught, you need antibiotics immediately, that is deadly
OK I am not going to bombard you....you know so much already...I will just wait for questions.

OK if it has no fur and is pink, it's younger, or right about that age. Do you see a little black dot where the umbilical cord was?
Feed approximately .5 to 1 cc of warmed pedialyte.

She looks wonderful, considering! Does she still have a little stub of an umbilical cord, or has it fallen off already? That is typically the mark of younger or older than 10 days. (I often think I have a much younger pinkie than I actually do, then I remember that rule:).)

Ok new pic of her wound...belly button...she also has two scratches under her arm where you can't see. Yes she is dirty, she had a mouth and nose full of dirt, that has been cleaned and I have tried to remove some from body but don't want to stress her...and the little squeak she gives me when I mess with her :Love_Icon

Ok...I have talked to Debbie (miraclesquirrel), she is at work and we are going to meet up tonight at Dr. Emerson's office. Dr. Emerson is Debbie's vet too :D
I have a 3 yr old girl here who is adamant that I name her Nuts :rotfl Anyways, no other squirrels, where the nest is no other babies that I see, no mom...raccoon was walking around, so I am happy I found her....just meant to be. Under the nest was a tree that looks like she may have banged around in. When I found her she was flat on her back with all 4 paws in the air...I said oh no a dead baby squirrel and of course I had to investigate and saw her belly breathing...in the complete sun, and temps at 81, I told IR mid 70's but its 81, so I think she was getting cooked. I have her all nice and comfy in Fallens incubator that I used when I raised him :Love_Icon
Her mouth is SOOOOO TINY...I have gotten her to urinate, tried pooping but not ready to go just yet :poke and I got a 1/2 cc in her...DROP BY DROP! :Love_Icon :Love_Icon

Wonderful news. Wow what are the chances of finding a little one that size, they almost blend right in this time of year...at least up here they would, if you could find any ground that wasn't snow covered....then they would stick right out...:rotfl
WOW a racoon in daylight is unusual, again at least up here.
I too am hoping that she is just banged up.
Thank God you were out today, and that you happened to see her....wonderful. You are her angel, and she is in perfect hands...:bowdown :bowdown

OK....I dropped her off at Dr. Emerson's...Marie, a worker there, is going to care for her as Debbie called and the 2 hr feedings are just to much for her and that perhaps when she is older Debbie will then take over. I should call her Sunshine, Lord only knows she was soaking up the sun...poor thing! She was laying in complete dirt no grass and so red/pink she stuck out like a sore thumb! It was just meant to be as that sun would have beat on her all day and with her stomach breathing the way she was I think the heat was already starting to get to her...poor sweetie :shakehead
Dr. Emerson is going to look her over with the bruising and that wound. Marie will take her home at night and care for her then take her to work during the day so if there is ever a emergency she wont be far from the Dr....like only a few steps :jump
I feel so good...this is just how its suppose to work! May God heal her and allow her to be a mommy of her own some day :jump

Awe...that's great. You know...you just never know if something happened to mama they can sure squirm around and easily fall out of the nest looking for food/mama. So if mama is not around there may be more to be found...depends on how hungry the are before they start really searching.....with their eyes closed....:shakehead

FM, if Marie is going to use Fox valley (and I SURE hope she is), she should not be feeding the baby every 2 hrs. At 8 days old she can easily go 3.5-4 hrs between feedings, so she'll be relieved to hear that. I don't even feed the 3-day old pinks every 2 hrs.
