View Full Version : Sick Bunny HELP!

Hello, my 6 year old female rabbit won't eat/drink for a few days and is now grinding her teeth very loudly as if in pain. She also keeps fidgeting around as if in pain. I got her out of her cage and she has no balance/can't walk or hop. She just sort of falls over/lays back down. (I don't think it's an ear infection though) Another strange thing I noticed is she breathes as though she has hiccups. It is late and no emergency vets around here will take small animals. Is there anything I can do now? I have tried forcing water via syringe, but she won't take it. I also tried massaging her gut, but she grinds her teeth when touched or moved, and I cannot bare to hurt her. I don't want my baby to suffer...

O my! She needs a vet asap! Meanwhile keep offering fluids .. Do you have pedialyte?

What's her poopies look like?

If she hasn't been eating she could have an upset tummy and need probiodics to balance her good bacteria. If you don't have benabac you can give her yogurt but it has to have the live bacteria in it.. Most yoplait has it as well as most organic I like stoneyfields..

She hasn't really pooped lately... I will keep trying, but she won't seem to eat/drink anything. Thank you.

Thanks to all of the on-going help and support from all. Sadly, Bun-Bun didn't make it through the night. She will be greatly missed.

I am very sorry for your loss. From your description, it is possible she had a blockage or was in stasis. I am so very sorry, I have lost two pet bunnies and know how much it hurts. RIP sweet little one.

Thank you all again. I'm sorry too... I really appreciate how awesome and supportive you all are...when I feel like I have nowhere to turn. Keep up your awesome work and thanks for loving animals as much as I do... we need more people like that in the world...
