Squirrel is 8 years old, for the past three weeks she acted as though she were choking I could rub her throat and she appeared to swallow, foam has been coming out of her mouth and now for the past two days it began coming out of her nose also, she tries to drink and eat but it never stays down, I am afraid that her throat is completely blocked and the stuff might be going directly into her lungs, she has spent alot of time laying around or laying in our laps not very active due to not being able to eat or drink and keep food down, not sure what to do beside comforting her, but I hate to see her suffer. Could her throat be block and redirecting foodstuffs into her lungs? How do I help her? She is my baby and i don't want to loose her.

can you get anything into her?
have you seen her eating or drinking anything?
I would try to find a vet...barium swallow is my recommendation if possible...
...

How are her eyes looking? Is she totally coherent?
Is she fully hydrated?
How is her temp?
Smell her breath?
Does it smell normal?
Has she been into anything different?
House Plants?
Electrical wiring? Cleaners?
I cannot stay on, good luck!:Love_Icon

She had been running a temp, she is not fully hydrated due to not being able to keep liquids on stomach, breath smells bland not normal, she has not been into anything beside her normal bedding ,vets here will not treat squirrels,

Great. But please ask questions before you go with a rehabber, especially if they want to take the squirrel to their vet. Please make sure everyone understands that you are not turning the squirrel over to them; that you want the squirrel back.

I am hoping some of our members might know of someone that they can vouch for. Please???? :thankyou

Doh, I thought of this afterward (which is why I'm returning).

yes, absolutely essential to let any rehabber know that this is YOUR
squirrel and that you need to know their protocols first before you let them take him. what mPetys said.

Antibiotics havent done any good, still working with her, thank you for your prayers, keep praying please. Trying some other things to try to help her, she did have a couple of good days and then started the same thing all over again. Thank you for everything and for thinking of her.

She was breathing good for a couple of days but still throwing foodstuffs back up, antibotics have not helped, we are not giving up, vets and reahabbers want to keep her and this place is the only place that she knows, we will continue working with her night and day like we have for the past month, never quit never stop fighting for what's right and never, stop loving.
