Poor little fellow...He stays in his house all day long just peeping out and sleeping....I am sure he is bored but since he is Brain Damaged I wonder if this is just his routine and he is perfectly happy:thinking The funny thing is Rick says he hears my Truck as soon as I round the corner and his head comes out...by the time I open the door half his body is on the floor of the cage not really out just hanging there. He waits for me to get home so I can play with him:D I feel bad for him but I'm hoping he has just adjusted to this life. When I am home I spend a lot more time with him

They are creatures of habit and are easily triggered by signals, in my experience. He also knows you mean treats :D Anyway, this is winter and my wilds are only out once a day unless a storm is coming, then they come out to pig out and stock up.

Virgo062, sounds to me Knothead is very smart, amazing he can hear your truck and perk up a bit in anticipation of seeing you. Always love your Knothead. Hey, you always do what you can, Knothead is very fortunate someone thinks about him and his happiness. Good job.

Awww... he probably is bored.
Have you given him anything new to play with?
Even if you rotate it it will be stimulating to him.

It's sssso sweet!

He knows what time you're going to be home!

Mugzi knew what putting the coat and shoes on meant much the same as the dogs.

I had a horse that knew the sound of my car and would race down the pasture rail next to the road and whinny for me while racing my car...He was my first rescue horse.

Can you get him a small TV? Bean likes to watch Animal World and almost anything with a lot of changing colors. He lies with his rear leg dangling while he watches, apparently for hours (just like us! LOL).

Wayne and Garth get bored too and I feel bad that I can only spend 1/2 hour of quality time with them a day. So darn cute that Knothead looks forward to the sound of your truck. :multi

Yes, P is a lazy, snoozy guy too, especially now that winter has come. He plays a LOT with his stuffies - way more than I would have ever thought an adult squirrel would, but he does love to snooze in his big pile of fleece.

How crazy is it that I am thinking about finding out how much it would cost to put a cable outlet in his room?

HOW crazy?:thinking Well, . . you're OWNED, right? So pretty normal, for an abnormal person, that is.

Im going to second the idea of TV. Jude watches Animal Planet mostly as that was is on in our house 90% of the time. He will lay in his hammock....with just his head hanging out and watch and watch...not sure what it is...but he loves it.

Do you guys remember Keiko (sp) the killer whale from Free Willy? In his tank ( before he was "released" ) he had 2 TVs...one play Blazing Saddles all the time while the other played Jeopardy. He LOVED Tv!

Animals definitely do respond to visual and auditive stimuli. Scooter used to perk upto the sound of the 50's music and would calm down to the sound of classical music. I had one budgie (Tuffy) who would light up like a X-Mas tree back in the day whenever he'd hear Blondie's "Heart of Glass" - he actually would dance on his perch, bobbing up and down as he sang along (his own version of course)... It was crazy hilarious. :crazy

Our dog Tanooki tended to be destructive when we'd leave the house - because of separation anxiety she'd attack whatever was left on the coffee table and magazines, cushions etc, even if we'd be gone only an hour - until we realized she actually enjoyed watching TV's Animal Planet shows with cats and dogs. So, we recorded a bunch on DVD and would put that on and her anxious behavior stopped.

So yes, I say, go for the TV idea! :) Little guy Knothead cannot do something physical, all he does have are his visual and auditive senses to stimulate him and cheer him up when you're not there. Indulge him :)

I"m so happy you love him as you do. He's lucky you even noticed, many people would not even have paid attention. :bowdown
