Although I joined the squirrel board a few months back and have posted a few questions, I realized I never "formally" introduced myself or my squirrel. Anyways, I decided better late than never (hence the post title).

I received my squirrel in late August. A friend had found him and he appeared to have fallen from his nest. He seemed ok (other than an initial bloody nose), but after keeping a close eye on him he proved to be in good shape. We guessed his age to be around 5-6 weeks. I was completely new to squirrels and so glad I found this great resource. I was amazed at how well he thrived ( I doubted myself greatly). My brother named him "Amadeus." He is currently living outside in a large cage along with his nest box. I wanted to release him in the fall, but ran into a few problems and decided it was best to keep him over the winter.

In spring, I hope to release him...if he allows it. He is a little monster and tears up everything he can get his little teeth on (he is especially fond of my cell phone). Other than that, he is a sweet little guy to those he knows.

Anyways, just thought a proper introduction might help put a name to a face when I get on here asking all my crazy squirrel questions!

Looking back I think that almost all of us wonder how our first fuzzers survived our inexperience.:thinking Doubting ourselves leads to caution which probably saved them:rotfl

What a handsome boy you have raised. Great job:thumbsup

All I did was worry about the little monster, and lost so much sleep. But he made it, thankfully!

Here is a pic of him doing one of his favorite things- sunbathing. A behavior I'm not so sure will get him far once he is a wild squirrel. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1128.snc4/149026_649032453707_210605191_35912851_8249213_n.j pg

Lol, pancaking? He loves to do that, he crawls around on his belly until he finds the warmest spot (wherever it may be). He seems oblivious to his surroundings when he does that - that's what worries me.

He is developing well, looks like a regular squirrel I see running around the neighborhood. He is is constantly doing things to keep us entertained. I NEVER would have guessed in a million years a squirrel could bring me so much enjoyment. Never knew they had such little personalities and were so smart.

Here are some newer pics of Amadeus. The first one shows his furry winter coat quite well and the second is him rooting around in the snow for something good to eat! :)
