Hi everyone,
I am so worried about my little girl, i dont know what to do!
I received my little flier about a month ago, she is a little over two months old. I still feed her 2-4 syringes of her milk concoction per day. I bought "Henry's healthy blocks" which i place in her cage with a few chopped up vegetables.
There is a patch of fur missing from in between her eyes within the past week. I think she is not eating as much of her blocks as she should be.... She just nibbles on them and ends up dropping them and leaving them to get hard. She eats very little of the actual block.
I have tried soaking them in her milk but it doesn't help...
I don't know if her hair falling out is due to this though...
Please tell me what i can do to help her, I am SO WORRIED =(
Thank you for your help

Can you post a picture?
Give more details about her diet.
Sometimes they will rub against things and lose fur.
Flier experts will be here soon and these details will help them help you and your baby.

Do you have a full spectrum light for her? They need light to absorb their calcium. Cuttle bones a re a good source of calcium too. Do you give her dark leafy greens too? Can you elaborate on her diet a bit more? What kind of vegetables do you give her?
A picture would really help. On the bald spot does the skin look healthy and smooth or crusty, red and scabby?

-I think she might not have gotten enough light where her old cage was. I have moved it to somewhere that recieves more natural light. I ordered some cuttle bones with her next batch of blocks.
-As far as the veggies I feed her regularly: raw broccoli, cucumbers, carrotts, romaine lettuce and celery. What Else would you reccomend adding?
-The skin appears healthy and smooth. As soon as I can manage to grab a picture I will post it.
Thanks again =)

Add mealworms and cooked chicken bone to her diet. squirrels LOVE the bugs!
You may try a TINY amount of Omega3

WHOA Nellie here, ladies....
ok, if the only fur loss is right between her eyes, she is chewing on the bars of the cage. This is a classic.
Second, if she is a flying squirrel she does not need full spectrum light or daylight to metabolize calcium. She is a nocturnal animal, and she metabolizes in a different way than diurnal greys, foxers, and reds.

That's my vote
they may not have realized she was a flyer

Thank you, I feel much so better now!!!
Should I still be worried at all? I have many things for her to chew on & play with (rocks, branches, etc.), anything else I can do to make her stop? If there is no real harm I can breath a sigh of relief =)

They're social so maybe some extra playtime would help. It's drag being a woodland creature locked up in a cage.
Keep an eye on those teeth. If she's rubbing the fur off of her face her teeth might start getting worn badly. Lining the cage with a finer mesh wire will help.
I'm wondering about cage size.
Bigger is always better.:D
