Hello everyone! Been 'viewing' the forums for a few weeks now, I had a hard time registering kept getting 404 Errors. My name is Jessica and I found a SFS at my apartment complex. He has now become known as Conquer. He was attached to the wall in the middle of the day, scared, shaking. I accidentally spooked him and he fell off the ledge onto concrete steps. First I was unsure about what it was, I sat a box on the step and he scurried into it.

I went to the SPCA, they tried telling me it was a sugar glider, but in my research I found it to be a SFS. I took him back to the woods behind the apartment building, left the box there so he could scurry back to him home but after a few hours he still had not left. Nighttime was coming all too fast and I did not want him to end up as predator food so he went in with me for the night. That's where TSB came into our lives. I did a late night run for Pedialyte and started him on that. From descriptions of ages I guessed his age to be about 6-8 weeks old. He allowed me to handle him, checked for any injuries, parasites (his feces was normal as well), and he seemed quite well besides a little bloody nose. The next night I started him on the homemade formula and ordered the FV for him.

I tried to keep handling down to a minimum but he refused that notion. He proceeded, after his feeding, to climb up my arm and right into my shirt (and bra, lol). He was on the homemade formula for about 3-4 days and when the FV came in, he only wanted it for about a week, then turned his nose up at it. He semi enjoys the rodent block, not really though. I think he only eats it because I told him if he didn't he wouldn't get his treats, lol. I'm thinking about making it sweeter? He loves mushrooms, kiwi, avocado, peaches, watermelon, and cantaloupe. He eats 1-2 mealworms everyday bathed in calcium power (ReptiCal). I also supplement it in his water, he loves it (I'm terrified of MBD). Conquer is a very happy, active SFS and is very loved in our home. He's starting to glide from my husband to me and loves playing peek-a-boo!

Conquer (When we first found him, need to get current photos):

As for myself, I am a stay at home Mom to my daughter, Rhiannon, our dog Raven, our goldfish and Conquer. I'm currently a student working on my AA, which I will have in the Spring, and then will be moving onto University of Central Florida, Rosen College of Hospitality, next fall. My mom used to work for a pound and has helped a lot with Conquer. She helped me design (with the AT LEAST dimensions I found on here) a cage for him and construct it. It's approx. 72" tall, his actual housing being 60" tall, 26" deep and 32" wide (Need to get photos of it). It's nice and roomy for him and he loves playing in it. Ummm... Not sure what else to say, but to thank you guys for all the early (unknowing) help from your forum and I'm glad I found you guys! :)

Hello! and welcome to TSB!
Thanks for the pics, I would have asked for them, you beat me to it! :thumbsup
Conquer is a precious little sweetie!:Love_Icon
and Mom too, helping to build a cage! WOW!:bowdown
Please no repti cal...:nono
and nothing should ever go into a water bottle but cool fresh clean water...

HHBs are the best avenue to making sure your baby is getting all that he needs, along with veggies daily.
The worms are great, my flyers love them!
TRy adding dry oatmeal, yogurt and boiled eggs...
I sometimes sneak dry FV in the yogurt, and it's always gone in the morning!
ok, now we need new pics!:jump

Thanks for all the helpful info Jackie! Clean fresh water (without the ReptiCal) is in there now. I'll def. have to sneak some of the FV in the yogurt. Hardly any of the FV is gone out of the bag O.O!

Worms are the "OMG MOM YOU REALLY DO LOVE ME!" Lol! I love him so much and glad you guys are here so I can give him the proper care he needs! :)

:thankyou for your warm welcome!

Tonight he was trying to nibble all over my fingers. He won't gnaw on anything that is in the bottom of the cage (pine cone, antler, whole nuts). Any ideas on what else to put in the cage. I'm installing shelves this weekend, yay! And I was wondering if there are any sites for toys or ideas on homemade toys, I'm a very arts and crafts type of girl. I had wanted to put branches inside, but I know our apartment complex gets treated every week. Would going out to a refuge for them work?
