Unshelled walnuts

Never given my guys unshelled walnuts but I got a few pounds from someone who has a tree. Do I need to shell them, cause its a lot.

Take them out of the actual shell? No way, thats good work for their teeth :)

or do you mean out of the casing stuff, the green/brown outer layer that holds the nut? I've heard both ways, someone said they let their sq shuck their own walnuts, but personally I shucked and scrubbed all mine with a wire brush within an inch of their "life" :)

Depends on how much you like your carpet/tile area surrounding the cage, because walnut stain pretty much doesn't come out of anything :)
