I have a beautiful Foxer that may need to be rehomed due to moving to an apartment who will not allow any animals. I am hoping to find other living arrangements for our whole family so I do not have to give her up, however I do want to be prepared in case. So if you live or know some one who lives in Central Texas around Temple, Waco, Belton who can over winter a squirrel please let me know. I have contacted a few rehabbers in my area with in 30 or so miles of me who don't/can't over winter her. I pray I don't have to move at all but just in case I need some options.

I'll PM a few members... How long has she been with you?

Do squirrels do better with others or just by themselves when they have been humanized?

SG75, you're north of me about 180-200 miles.
I'll ask around.

The larger squirrels, by their nature, are territorial,
and don't tolerate other companions very well.
Being with people doesn't change this behavior.:(

We found her when she was 2 days old, that was Aug. 11. She's 12 weeks now. She is no more "humanized" than the others I have raised and released in the past. She's never allowed around any other animals. She is still not completely weened from formula but eats fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, acorns,Zupreem, rodent block, cheerios, fresh greens, and seeds. I will be able to keep her with me after all. We are renewing the lease here on the 18th so she is able to stay home where she belongs. Thanks for trying to help. It would be nice to know who is near though. We would still like to know who our neighbors are.

She looks to me like a grey, not a foxer. But whatever she is, she's adorable! Is she non-releasable, or just need over wintering for a spring release? I would be glad to take her if you need to place her. I live about 25 miles above Beaumont, so we would need to meet somewhere or see if anyone else could help in the transportation.

I am set up for soft releases - I have a safe place to release (24 acres), and several large pre-release cages. If she is a NR, I can handle that too, as we have good size cages set up in our house. We feed our wild squirrels year round, so she'll never go hungry, whether indoors or out.

You can PM me if you want to discuss it.

I'm so glad it all worked out for you. Guess we were typing at the same time. :D
