I was forced to relocate due to a domestic abuse situation, and as heartbroken as it makes me, I am no longer able to keep my girls where I am currently staying. Im in Waukesha, WI for now (about 20 min west of Milwaukee) - I would really like to find a local rehabber to overwinter/soft-release in spring so that I can still visit them and be a part of their lives. Anyone know of someone who can help? A member of the squirrel board would be amazing, if there are any!

Thank You,
Ashley

I'm sorry for what you're going through and someone will be on soon to help, I would take them in a heartbeat, but I'm in FL... I'm praying someone helps you and your babies...

I got it, thanks Mugzee - And yes, it is Willow and Reilly - atm, theyre about 13 weeks right now - not exactly babies, but with how cold it is here, im not comfortable releasing this time of year.

I agree. Give me a call in the AM and let's see what we can do. I'll do what I can to get you and the girls help.

Awesome - Will do. A woman I found gave me a few contacts of licensed people who may be able to overwinter, so Ill have to give a call to everyone and yourself when I wake up tomorrow. YOU ROCK!!!

Same as mine.:D July babies.
Finnagin has not weaned yet. Ani has.
How about yours? What are they eating?
You'll of course want some consistency.

Extrusion rodent block (very similar to fortidiet - id love them on HHB's but cant really afford them) - they get a few nuts a day (ie pecans (fave), walnuts and almonds) - as well as a varying diet of fruits and veggies (avacado, watermelon and oranges seem to be their favorites but they also eat strawberry, blueberry, baby carrots, peas, beans, pinecones, broccoli, tomato, etc - oddly enough, they dont much care for grapes, apples, raspberries, etc and are even occasionally picky about the others in turn. They drink from their water bottle like little champs as they weaned fairly early (9.5-10.5 weeks)

On a weather note, BWAAAW, we just got snow! Snow! In freaking October! This is shaping up to be one of the coldest winters in years. It probably won't stick, but still! I pity the poor squees who will have to live through this one, brr!

If you have someone in your state It would be good to keep them within your state. Unless they r NR they should not be taken state to state. Its just safer for everyone involved.

Agreed
I think she is in a bind here though.
I believe she has contacted five rehabbers in state with no luck. She plans on releasing in Wi when spring arrives. This is just for overwintering at this point.
