I have a female Foxer who is 11 weeks old and still taking formula but won't even touch water. I offer it in a saucer, water bottle, and a small bowl with no interest at all. I even tried it in her formula syringe and still nothing. She eats everything under the sun from the list of food that good for her but I don't know how to get water into her. Her formula is all she'll drink but she's only taking it twice daily anymore, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but I would think that she is getting some water with the formula. Just add abit more when you mix it.

Well, with gray squirrels, 10-11 weeks is just about the time that babies are first allowed to start coming out of the nest by mama, and I believe that foxers may be even later, which means that in the wild, they would not be drinking water until right about now. I bet in the next week or so he starts to investigate it.

If she has a water bottle or bowl, how would you know for sure that she isn't drinking?

there'd be water missing out of her containers? I change it 3 times weekly to keep it fresh and fill to the 6 oz line and it hasn't even moved at all. I figure she gets enough from the food she eats and the formula that she isn't getting thirsty, I am probably just being too concerned but I would rather be too concerned than just assume and have a sick baby. Thanks for the responses.

I thought the same thing with my boys several years ago. First when they drink it's just a tiny amount at a time and second she is getting fluid from the formula just keep the water available and when she is ready she will drink it.
Knothead is a full grown squirrel and he will empty a water bottle about every two weeks give or take a few days. it's hard not to worry but squirrels are very smart and when she gets thirsty she will start hitting the bottle

I thought the same thing, too. Don't worry, squirrels are very smart. They are also very small and don't drink a lot, but they do. I finally caught them at it ;p
