OK, that is a total lie, but I got you to look, didn’t I?

So here is the story. 6 months or so ago, a new poster showed up on the board, Alabamarehabber, helping someone with a hit and run squirrel. The baby was eventually transported to her and the finder came back on the board and raved about her. One of the things that struck me was that she was not only willing to put her telephone numbers up, but she also accepted calls 24 hours a day! She came back again and helped another person on here with an owl. I kind of tucked her screen name into my memory bank, and last night, when we had yet another emergency in Alabama, she popped into my head and I looked up her email address and contacted her. Those babies are being delivered to her this evening. http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25376

She is what we all dream of when hunting for a rehabber – one who overwinters her fall babies rather than pitching them out early.
In the email she sent me back last night, she mentioned that “if only I could get some nuts.” I double checked, and she is on disability and spends most of her check on the babies (the two she is getting today brings her to 21!!), and she does, indeed, need nuts.

Well, we are certainly nuts here.:osnap

Now I’m gonna contact Mandie and get a box of her hickory nuts headed that way, and I will probably give Anuts.com a call too. And if she wants acorns, I’ll get the front end loader out and head out to my backyard, which is now knee deep in the things.:shakehead

Will anyone on the board join me in helping Alabamarehabber out? She’s ridden to the rescue here a couple times – I’d like to see CNN filming her house because she can’t get out the front door for the massive pile of nuts there…

PM me for her address.

Do you know if she has a preference as to which kinds of nuts? Shelled or unshelled?

Thank you Alabamarehabber:bowdown AND Crittermom...:Love_Icon

I think she would go for any kind (no peanuts:nono ). Her email had a pic embedded of this giant mass of squirming squirrel babies of all ages, and since she overwinters she will need shelled at first and unshelled later.

PM me guys - I don't want to put her address on the board.

I wish more places would use the USPS. Their shipping charges put UPS to shame.
