Snuggles has a urinary track infection. Where is the closest vet that will see her in Monroe or West Monroe, Louisiana?

I'm not sure how you know this and I cannot help with the vet, but until you can get him in to see one, do this:

Go to a health food store and buy any of the following: unsweetened pure cranberry juice, unsweetened cranberry juice concentrate, or cranberry capsules. Do NOT buy cranberry cocktail like Ocean Spray - it is useless.

Cranberry is an excellent way to get rid of UTIs. The acid in the juice prevents the bacteria from adhering to the walls of the urethra. If it is juice, you want to give a syringful of the juice every few hours through the day; if it is the concentrate, mix it with water per bottle directions and do the same; if capsules, mix the contents of the capsules with water and do the same. In addition, you want to push plain water like a maniac - the water is what will flush the loose bacteria out of the urethra. The juice is very bitter - if you have to add a little sugar to get it down him, you can do that.

I get these myself - this works.

if you can't find juices as CrM suggested, you can get a bag of cranberries at a supermarket, wash a handful, squash each berry with your fingers (very easy and quick), and pour hot boiling water over them, the less water the more concentrated it will be. Let it stand for a few hours, till it's lukewarm - ready to drink. Again, can add a sweetener (honey, sugar) if needed.

Thanks so much. I called the zoo and they gave me a person (their vet) but no answer so I called his bus which he has sold and they gave me a vet to call. Took him in and they said she was a he, he did have the urinary track infection and is now on antibiotics for 7 days, and the vet said she didn't think it was MBD. She said he should of showns signs of lethary before the seizures and paralysis took hold and he absolutely showed no signs of any of that. So, she said she could do xrays but it wouldn't change anything since he was getting better. She figures it's a back injury, virus, or head injury. So, he is still on the MBD protocol because he was not on the correct diet and got very little if any calcium for 3 weeks. So...now he is being forced a tiny bit of yogart that he doesn't like everyday because she said now he may get diahhrea. What a job I have been handed! Thanks for all your help!!:rotfl

Ahh, no doubt about the UTI. He (which we thought was a she) was laying in the sun on his side and I got a look at his pee dribble that was coming from his wee wee area and it was pinkish redish yellowish. I knew instantly he had a UTI. Got to a vet, he is on antibiotics. Now, he is being forced yogart to help counteract the possible diahhrea from the antibiotics. Thanks so much for your help!:thankyou

BTW, I was told he could get a urinary tract infection because of laying in his urine, but his bedding is changed about every 3-4 hours during the day. Vet told me the reason he got the urinary tract/bladder infection is because of the paralysis and he is not able to empty his bladder completely. FYI. Thought you would like to know that.:thankyou

No, she didn't show me but she sure squeezed the pee out of him. lol I hope I don't have to worry about it long. He actually is bringing his leg up to scratch himself but is not able to stand up on his back legs yet. He has a ways to go but he is sooo much better! He is curlying up, playing with his tail, trying to climb, and wants to play by climbing on me. So, I am hoping another 2 weeks he has full mobility.:thankyou
