Can this be made for the 'wilds' (ones we rehab but will be releasing?) I will be wintering over my four, but it will be more cost effective for me to make them (as I will go through quite a bit). Is the recipe different for them? Or will this one be ok (I just ordered and received my blocks for them, I got the 'wild' ones. So will it matter if I make this for them? Btw, they all ate them yesterday, so they are a hit. Oh, my flyers love them too...even little Jett was like 'GIVE ME THAT NOW!' lol)

Hey Pappy!:wave123
Young squirrels need growth formula for at least 6-9 months. The recipe in the Nutrition Forum tells you how much extra protein to add. But you can mix it up with adult and even Wild Bites if you want, though those don't have the extra protein.
The Wild Bites are made to provide a little extra balanced nutrition for a wild squirrel, as opposed to complete nutrition for a captive squirrel. For example, the Wild Bites have the same vits/mins, but also extra carbs and a little extra salt and fat, as these are hard to come by in the wild. Our captive squirrels, on the other hand, need to "watch their carbs" so that's one main difference.
But like I said, you can mix it up a bit. The particular block you feed is not nearly as important for wilds, or for to-be-released squirrels. But for overwinters, you'd definitely want to give them at least some growth formula for the extra protein.
Hope this helps!

So, just to clarify (me is tired tonight....lol) Would it be ok to just keep them on the 'growth formula' until release in the spring? Or at least start out using that (I bought the wild formula, but can make the growth). And next question....Where do I buy all the stuff to make it???? lol Thank you, I want to give them the best I can while they stay in my care!
